older Harbour Freight lift
I have an older Harbor Freight lift I bought back in 2008. I used it on my Venture Royale and on my Royal Stars. I worked well except for coming down too fast. I thought I would ask if anyone here had that problem and if you had been able to fix it. BTW my jack is the old yellow color.

Replace the bottle jack will solve the problem? But then again how fast does it lower unloaded?

Well I don't know, I never tried that, but it sure comes down in a hurry loaded

My HF lift is grey. I don't know if it is newer or older or different in any way. I find that mine can be lowered gently by very slowly depressing the down peddle. I usually do it using my hand rather than my foot. Seems to have better control that way..... Jim

Touchy...
Mine is yellow but a craftsman. Harbor freight has the same one but in blue. The other model is black. Nevertheless, mine will come down fast but learned to twist the release ever so gently till I get the slow down motion...

My son had a Harbor Freight yellow lift though not as old as the OP's and his main complaint with the thing was the jerky lowering. For that reason, when it came time to buy I bought the Craftsman like Gene's. Yes, it was more expensive but not that much so and its hydraulic system is super smooth, both up and down. It was very convenient removing the frunk during my recent 56K service too.

otherwise be a vulgar brawl.

Sorry you need to turn the head left, but instruction 1-b is what works on mine. Depressing the release completely, in one quick movement, will lower mine slowly.
