Default Best security option for city street parking

I want some sort of security device for my Rally because I'll be parking it out on the street

Taurus 9mm works for me. Has more bark than a dog and needs no food.

Look for a trailer coupler lock that would fit into the brake disc ….. they are almost impossible to cut …… good luck ….. Mike

    Default There are a few....

The disc locks are good as long as you remember you put it there. Cable locks from kryptonite and there are always the DIY types...I remove the key with the bar locked, hit the kill switch and apply the park brake.

    I personally like this option.

Here it is installed on a Ryker.

Maybe a full cover with a cable to lock it on would detour most thieves. cueman

I think that would deter even me from riding my Ryker. I like to get on and go. :-)

Keep it covered to help keep people off of it.

For security, I would put in a concrete filled, thick steel, mailbox post at the curb and use a quality chain/cable to lock the Ryker to it. Could wrap around pole when not in use. If I couldn't do that, I would try to getaway with a buried block of concrete between sidewalk and curb or in yard at curb. Block would have an embedded eye bolt to lock to. Any way, I would have a motion or proximity alarm and security camera. My biggest issue with just wheel locks would be someone deciding to drag it onto a trailer with a winch - a couple of minutes and gone.

A cover would go a long way. I put the parking brake lock on my wife's Ryker. I think between those two things, a thief would be discouraged enough to move on. The harsh reality is that 3 big strong guys can pick it up and toss it in a truck...not likely, but possible

Consider too, adding a hidden locating system so when it is stolen you can hopefully track where it is and recover it quickly.

The Syder has a pretty involved security system to prevent starting the machine, so essentially it will be slid onto a flat bed, then torn apart and sold as parts.

As for chains, cables and such securing it to poles or embedded concrete, they are merely a deterrent and a battery powered cutout wheel will be through them in under a minute.

Essentially, if crooks want it, they will get it. As they say, gone in 60 seconds...

The best security option I have is Dixie.5C6D5578-B380-410F-A2D8-40B5E7319B00.jpg. I have never lost anything she was guarding.

The more deterrents you have, the longer, and in the case of using a cutting wheel to disable, the louder. No "gone in 60 seconds" having to cut loose and drag onto a trailer. Especially if you also have the front brake lock and are using the steering lock. Lots of noise to hopefully attract attention too.

As for a tracker. If someone takes my ride, I don't want it back. That is why I have replacement insurance. Not interested in having a ride with a branded title.
