each state differs. most states classify CanAm 3 wheelers as motorcycles. then you need a motorcycle endorsement. a few require a special 3 wheel endorsement
help us by naming your state

Florida if you take the test on a two wheeler you can ride anything with 2 or 3 wheels classified as a motorcycle. If you take the test on a 3 wheel vehicle, you are restricted to riding 3 wheel motorcycles.

This is the same in Vermont, a few years back they added this category, for the folks who have No intention of ever getting on a two wheeler …… Mike

Interesting....🤔
Sort of like some European countries where if you get your licence testing in a manual vehicle you can drive any one but if you test in an automatic you can only drive automatics...

Never took a motorcycle test. I had already been riding for years when Florida passed the law requiring a motorcycle endorsement. Anybody that had a motorcycle title when they passed the law could just take the title in to the DMV where they would be grandfathered in with a motorcycle endorsement on their license. If you never let the motorcycle endorsement drop, you never have to test again.

Mikey...
I see you asking if you can take your "drivers license" test on a can am. I Washington State you cannot. You have to take your "drivers license" test in a motor vehicle. Motorcycles are not classified as a motor vehicle in Washington. The "drivers license" test covers several rules of the road that are not covered in the motorcycle test. Once you have your "drivers license," then you can take your motorcycle test for either (2) or (3) wheels to get an endorsement that is added to your "drivers license." You must take each endorsement test separately to ride both.

Don

Mikey, how about telling us what state you are in? That way you won't get 49 answers that don't pertain to you .
