    Default Check your Nuts

Your wheel nuts that is. Checked mine tonight at 221 ft. lb, got about an 1/8th turn on the rear and right front. Got about 1/4 turn on the left front. The rear and right front might have been within spec but I'm pretty sure that left front was not. The red locking clip on the left front also was jammed into a hole that really didn't line up and was tough to get out. There are various holes around the axle and I didn't have any trouble finding one that lined up. I'm sure some kid in a hurry doing assembly is the culprit, but I don't know for sure. Worth the investment to get the tools to check this periodically. I have less than 200 miles on my Rally so I'm sure it left the dealer this way. Oh by the way, the $22 2 1/2" SAE socket from Northern Tool fits perfect. I'm going to keep an eye on the wheels and periodically check them.

I have to agree, mine where no where near the 221lbs torque. They should not come loose with the retaining ring so I am guessing the dealer did not have a torque wrench that went that high. My socket (from same place)came with a free deodorant stick, had to laugh.

    Default Interesting....🤔

Thanks for the heads up... It is on the check list when traveling and you all have a rather large socket or wrench to deal with so it would be best checked before you head out.

My socket will be traveling with me if and when I ever go on a long excursion.

People say I'm nuts. Perhaps I need more toque or whatever.
