Exclamation Has anybody in FL had service issues with dealer Action in Bradenton, FL?

    Hi all,
I'm on a camping vacation in FL. Since my tryke is acting up on this trip. I had called a few Can-Am BRP dealers in the general Tamp area (an hour away from where I was but closet dealers). One of those was, Action Kawasaki Yamaha, in Bradenton, FL. (Platinum certified)

Jeromy INITIALLY said they would check it out right away. But once I had it towed there. Jimmy said they ONLY just test rode it and it acted fine. So now, they won't pull it ahead of others since they don't know why it acts up only after it gets wet/rained on. (It doesn't want to shift to higher gears. It's a SE-6 trans.)

This is my main transportation and I'm from out of town on vacation. Now I feel they have done the old "bate and switch" tactic (Guy I 1st talked to now not the guy I get now when I call their service dept.) to get me to bring it in and now that they have it, they don't seem to care or want to get me back in operation by not doing full diagnosis now right away like they initially said they would.

If you any truly Constructive suggestions for me to do. I'd like to hear them please.

Have you spoken to the folks at Central Florida Powersports? Unless something has changed recently, they are a serious Can Am dealership with dedicated service techs, plus good guys to deal with.

Also, in the past, and I assume they still do, offer loaner Spyders while yours is in for repairs. Never took them up on that, but worth asking about.

I was disappointed in their show room and sales staff, but maybe the techs are better. I have heard that West Coast Power Sports in Clearwater are good folks and they are closer to where your are. Service dept is (727) 536-4791.

I bought from West Coast Clearwater, and have had good luck wit them. Service techs seem knowledge and were helpful. Not sure how quick they can be, as I had appointments both times, but might be worth a shot. Unfortunately though, sounds like you issue might be hard to duplicate.

My final experience picking up my Spyder was appalling to say the least. The service writer Jimmy, has major attitude issues with customers that are older and/or ride spyders, or from out of town, I don't care which is. My final bill was way over the customary number of hours for the specific work performed. Especially one that is Platinum Certified by BRP. I was charged 5 hours! If it had still been under warranty. BRP would have only approved 1.5 hours. Most other dealerships in the Tampa general area quoted 2.5 hours for the same exact work out of warranty. I even checked the dealer I use back home, still 2.5 hours for the same work. Their hourly rate may be fair, but they charge double the amount of hours to do the same work. So costs more in the end. Yes in my previous career I had knowledge and experience with similar services. So I know how to check and verify what I am being told is the truth.
It was unfortunate that the service manager Jeromy wasn't available to talk to like before. At least he had been reasonable. I had to pay Jimmy before I did my own test drive to see if fixed properly. Jimmy wasn't smart enough to understand why I wanted to wet the waterproof gear shift switch to see if it would hold up like it is supposed to. Of course I didn't want it to fail and it didn't. Luckily no signs of not shifting when wet. You see, sometimes long distance riders get their bikes wet and have to ride some in the rain. Get it?
I will be repeating this review in other commonly used Spyder community forums/media. So other spyder riders will be warned of the over billed service hours and poor treatment by their lowly service writer. I will also check with my lawyer to see what can be done about this. They knew they had me over a barrel being from out of town and I had to have it towed there. I DO NOT RECOMMEND.
