    Default Instrument panel turn indicator

OK. I've not had even 50 posts yet, but, I've done a fair share of reading. I've also got a couple daze of wrenching on various vehicles. I know the instrument turn indicators are worthless in daytime hours. I have replaced the micro led instrument bulbs on a truck I once owned. They too were worthless even at night. I got the bulbs from https://www.superbrightleds.com/. They worked great and were dim-able. SOOooo ... here's the question. Has anyone looked into replacing the instrument turn indicator bulbs? I'm guessing they are LED. I haven't found a drawing of the instrument panel or the bulbs yet and will try to pull the panel off the trike sometime in the next couple of weeks. Any info would certainly be appreciated.

It's my understanding that the cluster is a sealed unit. I do know the indicators there are indeed worthless,
as is most of the other info displayed there for my old tired eyes. Many have installed the l.e.d. mirror lights that activate with the turn signals
giving a most obvious sign of the blinkers running. I am grateful that the self cancelling function on the RT is much better than most.

I don't know, but I put turn signal LED strips on each of my mirrors and I'm so pleased. Search for ****-*** (without the dash) and you'll find them under their RT products.

Turn signals mounted to the outer edge of the mirrors are what I did. Mounted correctly, they are not blinding to the driver but can be seen. More importantly, all the others on the road, front, side and rear, can see them very clearly. Easy plug and play and not expensive. One of our vendor sponsors, Spyderpops sells them. We do a LED industrial light on the dash. Go to any Industrial supply house, get a pair of green LED lights, wire them to the turn signals, and you are good to go. Call me for specifics. Joe

I got a pair of LEDS at the auto parts store and mounted them in the speaker grilles and wired them to the mirror power.

Here ya go. Bought off Amazon, think about 6 or 7 each. Perfectly visible during the day, dont mess with the cluster, just wire into the wiring that goes to the mirrors.

I will have to stop by and see what you have done. I too have a problem with the stock turn signal indicators.

    Default Well yes.....

We had a fellow back in 2012 from south america that wanted to change the color of the dash lights. Bob Denman and I help all we could and he did venture into taking the cluster apart and replacing the bulbs but not something anyone would recommend. You are much better off with the suggestions from those above...
20181202_110707.jpg did add the led to the upper corners of the dash and works great....

I wired some of the little LED tag light bolts into the turn signals on my old Sportster. They plenty bright enough to see and use very little power. They been on there for 7 or 8 years now and still work fine. I think I got them from Summit Racing, but the auto parts stores should have them too. Got red one for low oil pressure, 2 green ones for turn signals, and a white one for the neutral light.

I solved that problem by mounting two (one on each side) 5mm flat top LED's (along with the proper resistor) wired into the turn signals. Easy peazy! Send me a pm with your email and I'll send you a pic of what it looks like.

Thanks everyone! Don't know why I didn't think of the LED bolts in the dash. That's an awesome idea. That's what I'm gonna do.

No. But I did add turn signal strips to my mirrors.
Fairly easy process with the supplied hardware and instructions......once you figure out the right way to get the mirrors off.
They are visible not only to you but the the driver in the lane next to you too.
MUCH easier than what you propose.

I just had RT Longhorn RT LED lights installed on my mirrors on a 14 RT S. Light is visible to rider but are not blinding and very visible front side and rear. Purchased from LAMonster Garage along with the mirror magnets. Lights are plug and play.
