How to make a post

I'm a bit confused about how to create a post. Earlier today I created a post titled" F3 seat", wrote the post and then I think submitted it. Later when I returned to see if it was posted I could not find it.

I did reply to another post and it did show up.

It was a new topic. However, I made this topic and it was completely new so I must have done something wrong the first time.
