Electrical question
I recently had my original 4 year old Spyder battery load tested at my local auto parts store. It tested 11.0 volts under load and seems to be OK. My question is about my battery maintainer-float charger. I have had it for over six years and on float charge it always reads 13.5 to 13.6 volts. The manual states this, also. Recently it has been reading 14.4 volts to 15.1 volts in float charge. And this morning it was reading 15.4 to 16. Is my float charger going bad or is there something else going on with the electrical system or my battery? When I am riding my voltmeter reads 14.3 to 14.4. It seems strange that the float charger would read more volts with the motor off than when I am riding!

Check your float charger it could damage the battery

Your running voltage of 14.4 is spot on. When not running, it should read about 12.5 +/-

Yesterday I finally decided to get a new battery. So all is good now.
