    Default Comfort seat question

Will the stock RT seat backrest fit on the comfort seat?

    No.

The standard backrest needs the standard bracketry, & the comfort seat bracketry won't fit on a standard seat at all, & vice versa!! It's just a trap for inexperienced players, the rider backrests don't interchange at all - if you want a rider backrest for your seat, you need to know which seat it is & buy the backrest & bracket accordingly, cos the brackets aren't available on their own either!

I don't see a comfort seat backrest listed anywhere! I am assuming the passenger backrest are the same?

What model is your Spyder? The RT driver backrest is different in the stock and Comfort seats. On the F3 it may be the same, I’m not sure but as you mentioned passenger backrest I think you don’t have an RT.

The PN for the adjustable driver's backrest for the Comfort Seat is 219400689. The price is, now hold your wallet, $449.99. I do not see it listed on the Cheap Cycle Parts web site. While it is a steep price, out of pigheadedness I resisted for several years, but since getting it I've found it really reduces daily fatigue on long touring trips and I wouldn't tour without it.

So none of the aftermarket seat folks make a driver backrest for the comfort seat?

Not to the best of my slim knowledge. When you purchase an aftermarket seat that moves the driver back a bit, like the Comfort Seat, the aftermarket manufacturer from what I've seen includes the driver backrest that fits their particular pan design and is equipped with their backrest and mounting hardware. The Utopia company makes a driver backrest for only the stock seat, not the Comfort Seat.

I took the Utopia seat off my 2011 RTS stock seat and put it on a comfort seat. Works fine.

I have the utopia backrest on the comfort seat. 2016 RT.

Be sure to order the one specifically for the comfort seat. Give them a call if you're not sure.
    Nice people to work with.

Spoke to Utopia and they indicated that putting the stock backrest without changing the bracket should not work! Now I am stumped.

That's interesting. Mine works fine. No fitment issues and does not flex.

If you have the Utopia backrest already, try it.
