Steering sensor
can someone tell me about a "steering sensor?" Never have heard of one and wonder about it. We have a 2014 RT-S. Thanks.....Hope this is not like getting a bucket of prop wash for the piper!! 😜😱

Thanks Bob. I've been complaining some due to pulling to the right. Techs said they adjusted the sensor. Still pulls to right following lazer alignment. I suspect it's the tires.

Check this video... just because you got a laser alignment doesn't mean there were other issues causing it to pull.
This is a ST-S but the issue he discusses could cause a pull after laser alignment.

Recently had mine aligned and the sensor was off by 5 degrees (saw this on the screen myself). After it was reset the steering was much easier. Everyone should have a laser alignment.

Pull to right
Mine doing the same thing still pulling to the right . Shop found the stearing nuckle has slop in it they are talking to BRP to see what is ok for slop. No work yey.

The reason that they "Zero" the sensor; is so that the bike has an accurate idea of where the wheels are pointed.
It doesn't affect the steering; it just monitors it.
Pulling to the right can be as simple as the crown in the road...

There are 2 sensors that need to be reset after an alignment. The steering angle sensor, has been discussed in this thread. If it is not zeroed, it will not cause the Spyder to pull in either direction. It causes other problems. The other steering sensor is the torque sensor. It measures the input force to the handlebars. If it is not zeroed out, it will cause the Spyder to pull to one direction or the other depending on which way it is off.

I gather that when the angle sensor reads zero, and the wheels are pointing dead straight forward; the torque sensor should also be at zero?

Is this sensor adjustment an included part of a laser aglinment ?

Nope!
The SAS tells tell the DPS and other systems which way the wheels are pointed. The torque sensor tell the DPS how much force is being put into the handlebars to make a turn. So you are going straight down the road the SAS is calibrated right and at zero. But if the torque sensor is not at zero and off far enough. The DPS will think you are trying to turn.

I would think so. When I was at the Lamonster BBQ, I watched Lamont do a alignment and he reset both.

That's not what I said. If the SAS sensor is calibrated correctly. (That is only one sensor.) and the torque sensor is not calibrated correctly (The other sensor). The Spyder DPS will want to steer to left or right depending on which direction the calibration is off.
Quoting previous post.

If you are going to a Can-Am dealer that does the ROLO alignment, they obviously will have BUDS. Most of the independents have BUDS, you can verify the status of that by going to http://www.spydercomfort.com/independant%20dealers.htm
