    Default instrument cluster removal questions

i would like to take a look behind the instrument cluster on my '19 F3T.
since my BRP connect does not recognize that there is a phone plugged into it, i am ruling out that the USB cable is or is not plugged into the cluster. i just want to remove it far enough to look behind where it should plug in. i have a couple questions:

-what are the chances that i will get this trim cover off without breaking it? it just pulls straight off, right?
if you have any suggestions on removing this piece correctly, i would appreciate them.

    IMG_2122_Fotor.jpg

-assuming i get the trim off, how difficult will it be to loosen and tip the cluster out a bit to see behind?
-am i asking for trouble doing this?
-if anyone has removed the instrument cluster i would really like to hear about your experience.

i think i have the current software. my dash shows miles 'til empty
    bluetooth sync works good

when i push the BRP Connect button, the dash says connect a phone. i have tried 3 different phones and 3 different cords, all apple brand. nothing works.

    thank you for your help

Did you first pair your phone to the Spyder? I think you do that in settings under add a phone. Try that first. The dash cover is easy to get off has about 6 attachment spots so start at one side and pry off then work your way around.

Pierre did a fantastic video job of removing dash on RTL (Thank you Pierre). I would think the F3 is similar so here is a link.

Note: There is NOT a lot of room to be messing in behind these dashes. I would not play with anything behind this dash because the harness going into it is HUGE!

Check with dealer for warranty before removing dash.

yes,to remove the bezel, you just pull at it,as per spyderanne...i start top left and work my way around...i find the bottom is the hardest to pull

on refitting,i dab some silicone grease(the clear o ring stuff)onto the tabs......helps a little on subsequent removals

sorry i have never removed the cluster

Isn't your Spyder under warranty? Take it in and let them fix it..

Your phone will pair with your Spyder. Yes, BRP Connect must be downloaded on to your phone and the phone paired through the "add phone" menu on the Spyders pop-up menu. It can be difficult at first but it will connect. Also, make sure that your phones Bluetooth is turned on. Your phone should also ask you if you want to pair with the Spyder after you do the Add Phone thing. 99% chance you have not followed the correct pairing procedure.

Thank you all for the help and suggestions. it is time to let the dealer fix it. i give up.

i took off the bezel. it came off easier than i thought it would. i was able to look behind the gauges without removing them or unplugging anything.
i was hoping for a dedicated USB cable that needed to be plugged in. that is not the case. the USB cable coming from the glove box terminates in a large multi-wire plug that plugs into the gauge. game over. bezel trim back on. failed.

so again i read through the suggestions in this thread. watched the video on configuration. started from the beginning

    -uninstalled the BRP app
    -unpaired bluetooth
    -reset iphone

-downloaded and set up BRP Connect

    IMG_2146 2_Fotor.jpg

-paired iphone. it payed music from my library on the phone and responded to selecting tracks from the joystick.

    IMG_2144 2_Fotor.jpg

-connected USB cable and pressed BRP connect. this is what i get.

    IMG_2143 2_Fotor.jpg

    - i also noted that the iphone is not charging when connected to the USB cable.

again, thank you for all your help. hopefully the dealer has the solution. i need the 3000 mile service as soon as i find a dealer that is open, will get it done then. snowing today.

    enjoy your day

I understand your frustration, when we were doing the 2020 RT Demo Tour I could not get my phone to pair, or to stay connected. We wound up purchasing new IPhones and that solved the problem. I had been having issues charging my previous IPhone and I was told that you have to have the best charging cable or it won’t stay connected.

It was an expensive way to get it to work especially since the tour was cancelled and I don’t have BRP Connect on my 17. I may need to buy a 20 RT just so I don’t waste the phone purchase!

    Good luck.

Sounds like a perfectly acceptable reason for the 2020 purchase to me, Ann
