Default Day trip at freeway speeds on a 600.

So I'm curious how my 600 will handle an all day ride at freeway speeds of 65 and 70 mph. Will that be too much at high RPMs for prolonged periods? Curious how it will handle the mountains in Tennessee on I75. Will it be able to maintain the speed limit up the hills?

If you are still in break-in mode, vary your speed.

No problem! I went to Chicago & back (from central FL) in 1975 on my 1974 Honda 450 DOHC. It had like 41 HP, compared to the 600's 50. At one point in Indiana (probably around where they advertise it is quite windy & they have wind turbines) on I-65, there were hefty crosswinds, and the farm fields were blowing lots of dust, and I had it OPEN THROTTLE, and was going only 50 MPH!

Should be no problem for the Ryker. My wife has taken her 600 Ryker up the highway at speeds up to 80 mph with no trouble. It still had more in it.

Now, I'm not sure how comfortable you will be for a full day but that depends on your expectations. I've ridden all over the country on bikes with no weather/wind protection at all, one up, two up, with bags and without. I was much younger then.

If your trip is on less than ideal roads (aka not recently paved and a bit rough), you are going to take a pounding. Often times the lanes are rippled in the middle. On a two wheeler, you can ride the left or right side of lane for smoothness. But on a wide three wheeler, there is no way to straddle the ripples; either a front or rear wheel will need to ride them.

You might consider getting a gel seat cover.

Gel Seat covers are comphy but they get burning hot in the summer sun. Go with a properly inflated AirHawk.

Mine doesn't. I've sat on it when it was in the bright sun & it was not hot. It has like a cloth outer case.

Has anyone noticed the RPMs on the 600 at around 70-75 MPH?

For me doing 70 mph on my 600 the RPMs were bouncing between 6000 and 6200.

I'm sure VERY high! It is close or at 6,000 RPM at only 60 MPH! My last bike, a 500cc scooter ran at only 5,000 RPM at 60 MPH. Don't know why Ryker must be so high.

At 57 I don't want to ride anything all day long. After a few hours I'm ready for a Blue Moon and the Hot Tub.

57 is not old. You are younger than my kids and I ride all day at 82 1/2.

Let me rephrase that. After 4 hours or so on the bike I'm over it. The Ryker may be different, I may not want to get off the thing. If it ever comes in I will let you know.

If my Piaggio MP3 500 CVT scooter can do it, I sure hope the Ryker can.

Runs lower; my MP-3 ran at only 5,000 RPM at 60 MPH vs. 6,000 for the Ryker 600.

I don't think the RPM's is gonna hurt anything but the noise and buzz at that high of a speed for a long time could be rather irritating.

I drove a 600 ryker home for my wife,50 miles.Ran speeds 60-75 mph.Not like the rt ltd I had, rpms ran 6000-6600,ride was so-so.I wouldn't do it again.Seems it is made for lower speeds and shorter trips,I was not comfortable running at those high rpms and speed.

I wouldn't mind the noise since I plan to have music going on the helmet, My main thing is the bike and the engine at those RPMs for a prolonged time. I work about 35 minutes away but it's literally ALL highway averaging about 70MPH the whole time.

I plan to use this bike daily (whenever the weather permits) in the summer which will also help with controlling the mileage on my other cars, lol.

The max Horsepower for the 600 is 47 at 7300 RPMs. I would imagine you could run all day at 1000 RPMs below the max horsepower setting.
