Looks like a load equalizer may also be required.

Hey Ferno I would prefer an all in one type solution like the Pilot Automotive LED bulb as opposed to the two part solution of a Kuryakyn LED bulb and a load equalizer. Having said that if there is great difficulty in source the Pilot Automotive LED bulbs here in Canada then I may consider the Kuryakyn solution or the NMN solution.

I ordered the nmn triple play yesturday, but that only covers super bright turn signals, at any rate it would be great to find a drop in bulb for the brake lights... I will keep searching. I have an old school buddy that has a speed shop... he can get anything...

Hey Ferno I have the NMN Triple Play along with the NMN center brake light add-on. You will not go wrong ordering this product. Install was very easy and is an extremely well built product. Support from NMN is also the best around. The triple play most definitely does improve your visibility from the rear 10 fold. I will eventually get the mud flap lights and the front mirror lights from NMN. The only real challenge for me is that being in Canada we get dinged incredible amounts for shipping and customs. Because of this if there is a drop in solution for the brake lights light the Pilot Automotive LEDs and they are available in Canada I would be going this route, for at least the brake lights.

Ferno based on the product info I was able to find on the internet it does look as though the Pilot Auto LED bulb has the load balancer built into it. At least this is what the product literature tends to lead you to believe.

All I will say on this topic is this.

If you think 4, 9 or even 14 regular LEDs, or even four half watt LEDs will perform the same as 28 Genesis Series LEDs you are gravely mistaken.

If your only goal is to install LEDs just to say you have LEDs then OK. But in LEDs as in life, not all things are created equal.

Magicman I agree with you 100%. The problem I have is that being in Canada I get hit extremely hard with shipping and duty charges (a fact my wife continually reminds me of ). This financial hit is large enough to be a factor in deciding whether an LED product is purchased or not. In some cases like the mud flap lights and the mirror led turn signal lights that NMN, oops I mean ESI, produces the decision to go with the ESI product is a given since there is nobody else that manufactures these.

If a solution can be found that is as simple as replacing an 1157 bulb with an LED bulb and load equalizer that provides better lighting then the stock 1157 bulb but not as good a light output as the genesis LEDs that you use, then the solution is still better then staying with the stock 1157 bulb. Even better if this solution can be found or is readily available to us in Canada.

Evan while I have have already purchased the triple play from you I would love to also purchase the LED tail lights, mud flap lights and double play along with the mirror turn signal lights but because of the financial hit in getting those products to Canada I have had to hold off on them. It is not that I don't believe in your products because they are top notch but realistically when the total cost of a purchase in some cases almost doubles because of customs and shipping one has to selectively decide what to purchase and what not to purchase.

Truthfully the better solution would be for NMN/ESI to have more distributors located in Canada who actually stock all of the spyder lighting products so that those of us in Canada who truly want to purchase NMN/ESI products can do so without being gouged by the shippers and customs at the lovely Canada/US border.

When are you moving to Ontario ???

Agreed, Magic Man... it's granted that your system is better. But any level of improvement over stock may be advantageous to those that might want to spend a littlle less?

RE spending a bit more: You offer the LED mod to my existing tail lights if I send them to you, for a reasonable price; or complete new LED modified tail light assemblies (without me sending my units) for significantly more... Is it possible to purchase the new assembly and then send you my stock units for return of a 'core charge'?

Not all LED's regardless of quality will be an upgrade in performance over a stock bulb.

Granted MOST LED's will have a longer service life than an incandescent bulb, but not all LED's will out perform an incandescent for light output.

LED quality and type really matters when it comes to performance. Almost all standard size 5mm LED's look alike when off, but the differance can be huge when the power is turned on.

The differance between regular LEDs and the Military spec Genesis Series LEDs we use can be the same as the differance between the average golfer and Tiger Woods.

    As for the housings....

The price we charge for the New Tail Light Housing is what BRP charges for the housings, and in as much not a money maker for us, but rather a customer service we provide having new housings here in stock to send out ASAP.

We do not sell used housings or have a core program, as the guy who sends in units off a brand new Spyder is not going to want back units of a 10,000 mile Spyder, as these get some pretty good marks on them even in normnal use.

What about distributors in Canada. Are there any that actually stock your products. I did call your office and was given a couple of names but neither of them actually panned out with both saying that they too would have to order through the US.

Ya, the distributors in canuck land are no use. They have zero stock..
So we have no choice but to order direct from NMN which is ok by me because they have top rate stuff, good staff and they answer the phone and even call ya back..

What would be wrong with finding someone close to you in the U.S. and having it shipped there and you pick it up/install it there? I'm talking Canadian customers. That may be out of the question due to the distance.; just asking.

i already had to change them 3 times so...
i don't know if you can tell but on first pic, right side is the led. in person led is brighter than stock bulbs.

i only have 40 miles on them but i am going to san diego today so i will report if any problem comes up.

finally, 5th times is the charm

OK, after I saw your report I went on Amazon last week and ordered a pair (LI-1157RCZ), "only 1 in stock." Put them in this morning, took a 50-mile trip through stop-n-go, and they worked beautifully. This so far is the only LED bulb available with built-in circuitry that will work with the Spyder. Any ordinary LED will trip the computer and set up the "limp mode" reading.
I have the Sport rack and it took a while to install; loosened the rack, removed both rear side panels and under panel, and removed one screw on each brake light assembly. I wiggled each assembly down enough to reach in, turn each bulb socket counter-clockwise and pull the socket out. Removed each bulb, replaced with led and put everything together again. (It helped that I have small hands; otherwise the whole rack would have had to come off.)
I am planning a long trip and did not want to worry about replacing a bulb on the road. When NMN "(ESI)" has the Givi bag lights available, I will order and install those as well, and that will give me lots of brake light !!

    it is what it is.
    a great buy at $25 a PAIR.
it may or may not be a best solution depending on your needs vs. dollars.
works with spyder without any problem and brighter than stock.
