About 2 weeks ago the boss and I picked up 2 - 600cc Rykers. On this forum there has been discussion about not having a tool kit. When we picked up our Ryker’s from the dealer, in a plastic bag was the owners manual, information about roadside assistance and it looks like it was made in China Flathead Screwdriver. What is it for?

From a walk around video I watched it said the screw driver was for adjusting the tension on the handlebar adjustment clamp.

I saw a ryker overview video in where they said the flathead screwdriver is for the handlebar. The adjustable latch has a flathead screw that you need to periodically check to make sure the latch has enough tension on the handlebar.

I got the screwdriver too. I don't consider it a toolkit. I actually threw it away as I already had better screwdrivers.

Interesting...I guess BRP does not think any roadside repairs will be necessary. The screwdriver does it all.

Now if I could just find that 188 ways to fix things with a screwdriver sheet....

I can be used to pull the rubber buttons that hold some of the parts together.

Believe it or not the dealer told me there was a special tool for that too. But I found Harbor Freight sells one for under $10

I think BRP's target market was the younger generation. Most of them don't know how to use a screwdriver let alone a tool kit. They just call the person to fix something. I don't think they expected us older generation folks to be buying them like we are. We are the generation of fix it ourselves!

In the owner's manual it says to use the provided screwdriver to adjust the headlights.

It is actually a phillips head on the other end so technically it is two tools.

Only, if you're gonna take that approach, then surely if the screwdriver shaft bit with both a plain s/driver and a phillips head end is two tools, then you've gotta count the handle that the shaft fits into too!

So there y'are, it really IS a tool kit! Two tools and a handle!!

Only we might wanta be a little quiet about this, or it could add to the Ryker's price!

If you rub the handle a genie pops out with all the tools that you will need to service your Ryker.

I always put my own tool kits together anyway to carry. You can do a lot with a pair of pliers, crescent wrench, tape and ty-raps. Bailing wire and bubble gum comes to mind also. The Ryker has more car like components than a motorcycle anyway.
