I recently install the OEM belt tension with the LaMonster roller upgrade. The scuff marks on the picture of the belt makes me wonder if:
The LaMonster roller is crowned or
The bracket is not square to the frame (which i believe it is)
i can see in the picture that the tensioner is not squared up to the belt. The roller is off to the side and looks like it is canted.
Not the clearest picture. But I agree. Looks pretty obvious that the roller is not positioned correctly on the belt and is not square either. Correct me if I am wrong. But I thought vibration tensioners were supposed to be on the slack (lower portion) of the belt.

Ron this isn't really a belt tensioner, but more of a harmonic dampner, in my opinion. But anyway, it is obvious by the picture that it is not installed or adjusted properly by the way it is scrubbing the belt. Mine has more than 12,000 miles on it and there are no marks on my belt. It is mounted on top of the belt to remove harmonics and proper belt adjustment is still necessary to get the proper tension.
How old would you be if you didn't know how old you were?

I agree with you Ron but what puzzles me is that the ones mounted on top seem to solve the belt vibration problem, for the most part anyway. Mine exerts approx. 7lbs of down pressure which is miniscule compared to other tensioner applications.
Make sure that you are squaring the tensioner up with the wheel rolling forward. It will go kiddy wampus when the wheel rolls backward. If you got it from Roadster Renovations, did you get the spacer that is sold with it? There should be about 1/8" of roller hanging over each side of the belt when it's on correctly. Pull the panels off and square it up on the belt, with the wheel turning forward.
