    Default RV towing question

when towing a 4 wheeler behind your RV, do you have to disconnect the drive shaft (4x or 2x).
    thanks

The "Care & Feeding of Toads" is usually covered in the Owner's Manuals...
My folks towed a 1987 Suzuki Samurai for over 100,000 miles!

It vehicle specific. As Bob said it should be in the owners manual.

In general, wheels connected to an automatic transmission can not be on the ground while moving. A tow dolly for a front wheel drive toad will solve this. A trailer is needed for all wheel or rear wheel drive. Manual shift with manual clutch is generally able to tow w/all wheels on the ground. As others have said - check owner's manual.

Get yourself any Jeep with a transfer case, and you'll be towing in no time!
(Just put the t/c in neutral...)

Same with my Ram truck. Just put the transfer case in neutral. Can then be towed on all 4 wheels.

If you REALLY want to do it right: find yourself some Warn locking hubs for all four corners, and nothing will spin but the wheels...

It's really weird how some vehicles with automatic transmissions can be towed 4 wheels down with out doing anything other than connecting them up. Good Sam puts out an RV guide showing which vehicles can be towed 4 down with automatic transmissions. Most GMC vehicles like the Terrain, Acadia, Chevy Equinox and Traverse work. Most ford vehicles work. However all the Japanese vehicles do not work unless they have a manual transmission. The RV guide is very specific.
