Windshield Treatment

I just put a touring BRP windshield on my RS. Something I read said not to use RainX or a similar treatment. Is there anything that you use to help your shield slip and shed more rain? I'll be out on a weeklong tour in June and usually somewhere along the way encounter storms... my shield on the Harley Ultra I used to ride was seriously enhanced by pre-treatment before tours. Thanks.

Thanks... I didn't know there was a RainX specifically for plastic screens. I'll check that out if I find it vended here... most likely. If not, I'll look for the other recommended product. Thanks for your help/advice!

I carry a spray can of Plexus in the bike. It cleans well as well as leaving a nice, slick coating. BTW, when doing anything to a windshield, use ONLY up and down strokes. I apply a quick spray of Plexus across the w/s and then wipe it with vertical strokes, going across the screen.

Nothing - it works great on - GLASS - but for plastic use the plastic formula ONLY ….. Mike

I would appreciate any tips on how to apply the RainX for plastic without having it come out streaky. That's the biggest problem I have with it. TIA.

After I apply the RainX I take my small spray bottle with plain water and mist the shield lightly. Then I take a soft cloth usually microfiber and go over the shield until dry. I do this with RainX for glass on my truck as well. Seems to work well with the streaking issue.

Using Rain-X for plastic …….. Except for the F-4 brand windshield ( it is waaaaaaaaay tougher ) …. Make sure you use the proper techniques for Cleaning the plastic before you apply the Rain-X ….. I think the rain-x also helps with any micron type scratches …… Mike

Plexus requires no special technique - just spray a small amount and wipe with a soft cloth, like an old T-shirt w/o any printing on it. OK, I'm lazy.

IMHO RejiX beats RainX and Plexis hands down. I have used all of them and they are all good. RejeX is just better. Look it up on Google. It is a tiny bit more expensive but well worth it. BTW, I still carry a bottle of Plexis and use it on the road. And, I agree that whatever you use, just apply it and clean using vertical strokes. Don't swirl or go horizontal. That will eventually result in a windscreen that reflect sulight back to you (BAD)..... Jim

Me Too. And I installed one of these..MRA 4025066125036 X-Creen Clear Bolt-On/Add-On Variable Windscreen Spoiler Blade, from Amazon. This model is the bolt on version, so order the clamp-on version if ya don't want to drill your windshield. I thought it came with both options, NOT, and I didn't want to wait for the clamp-on to get here so I drilled the shield.
I look between them. The Spoiler Blade makes a big difference, I hardly feel any wind in my face. But I'm 6'-6".
