Issues with fuel and Temperature gauge 2011 Spyder RT

The other night I noticed for the first time an Orange warning light come on for a brief moment and then go off . The next day the same thing happen again but this time I noticed that my fuel gauge needle was burred past full and my temperature gauge needle was burred below the cold. after 30 seconds or so the gauges went back to normal showing proper fuel level and temperature of the bike and the orange warning light went off . To me it seems like a bad ground but before going down that rabbit hole i wanted to post a thread . any help on this would be great !! .

Back then those guages were notoriously off and many just removed them both allowing the digital guages to appear on the screen. These were much more reliable. You could check the fuses to make sure there is good contact then pull the dash and check the connections there for good contact and might as well check battery connections as well. If you elect to remove them you can replace them with power supply, vold meters etc or simple cover plates.... Welcome to the site and keep us informed on what you find....

You didn't by chance install Magic Mirrors did you, some (me included) have had problems with the analog gauges after installation, i never liked them anyway so I just took them out, others had luck with reversing the polarity of the magnets.

You say if you disconnect the gauges the info appears on the screen? Does that make them any more accurate especially the temp which is always off

I can't swear that they are more accurate, but my guess is yes. You will need to disconnect both analog gauges in order to have them show up on the screen. You will then have two holes where you can install other items, like a clock that actually works, USB ports, 12V outlets, etc.

Ok so I tore into the Spyder . Started at the battery checking all the grounds . Turns out the front gauges are grounded underneath exposed to the road elements . I had a floating ground . I sniped the common ground wire ran a new 14 gauge wire to a good ground and my gauges came to life . Pulling all the fearing off was a pain in the rear . But she’s back together and working .Thank you for all the tips . Let’s ride
