Default Seat strut on the RT

I replaced the stock seat with an Ultimate with backrest, and now the strut won't hold the seat up. Does anyone know a part number for a stronger strut? Blue Knight Mike, what numbers can I cross reference for McMaster Carr?

Hi, I sent you a couple of PM's ….. McMaster Carr ( listed as a gas spring ) # 4138T56 …. that's for the size of the part …. you need to pick how much FORCE you need …. Mike

I just went and checked that for my OEM RT seat strut ( now off the bike ) … pressure needed started at 22 lbs and was 28 lbs fully compressed …. hope this answers your Question ( see my post #3 for the part number you need - they have 30 & 40 lb struts )…… Mike
