    Bob,

I am very glad to see that you are going to hang around. I would not be on this forum if it was not for you. After purchasing our first Spyder (2013 STL) I joined another forum, but was very disappointed in how few members posted, and worst how few responses I received to my questions. You responded that I should check out Spyderlovers. I did and the rest is history - so thanks again for stearing me in the wright direction!

Bob, I don't post much anymore, but I'm here several times a day, just keeping up. You've been good for the site, and a friend to all of us, get back to us when you can, and thanks.

I feel as if I'm losing relevance in the Forum. Since I don't own a Spyder anymore, and can't even ride: it's tough to see where a fella with no current perspective fits into the picture...
I could act like the "Old Guy on the Porch"; who talks about the "Good Old Days"...
But that's not what I want to be.

I always liked being able to pass information along to folks who might have needed a bit of a helping hand.

(And some humor along the way...)

    Tyris,
Rule 12 had no impact on my decision: that was just an honest difference of opinion between two very good friends...

    Ron & Joy,
Thanks for the tunes: they really meant a lot to me, and I love you guys for taking the time to do it.

Now comes the REALLY awkward part of this...

If I can't be useful any more: I guess that I can stick around a little bit, and try to offer some humor to the equation.
And perhaps even add some perspective to the usual arguments that seem to break out every 47 seconds or so...

I won't be here as much, and you probably won't even notice me when I am.

But I really love all of you, and the last (almost) 9 years has been a real hoot!
crying_into_a_tissue-1331.gif I don't post here so much any more, Bob, but I never thought SL would be without your huge presence.

On the other hand, think how much more work you'll get done for not being on here all the time.

PS: I think you should at least shoot for 100,000 posts before you call it a day.

Bob, you always offer great advice, even after you gave up ryding. Please remember you are still a valuable resource for other members. Now if I were in your shoes, and could not ryde anymore, I think I would bow out because all of the ryding talk would make me crazy jealous! If that’s the case so be it. Let the other members of the bored determine if you have lost your relevance! Pssssssst......you haven’t!

I sold my Spyder but come here at times for the humor and interesting insights into the trike riding. Bob, I am glad that you decided to hang around even if it is only periodically. With all of your experience, you are not considered a "usta". We need you to keep things afloat every 47 seconds when someone chimes in with statements that do not seem to make any sense. Bob

Hi Bob! As you can see I rarely post but I have been pretty much on this site several times a week for the past 6 years and am here to tell you that your input has always been appreciated. You may no longer own a Spyder but the bottom line is that you have a lot of experience that can be shared with the new riders. When I bought my 2013 RTL 6 years ago, you were the one who acted as the voice of reason when the heat problems piled up while others did nothing but contribute to the hysteria. As you predicted (and I concurred), the problem was remediated eventually. Sometimes this site needs a “rest of the story” kinda guy and you are that guy. I expect to continue to see posts from you in the future! Take care and hope all is well with you.

I think I understand, at least a little bit, of what you're feeling.

It seems like the number of vexing problems with our beloved Spyders has diminished greatly with improvements in recent model years and the massive number of solutions discovered and shared over the years has neutralized many concerns. My 2014 RT is 5 MYs old now, and 2 MYs older than the basic design. So as members are discussing problems with the 2018 & 19 RTs and the Rykers, with which I have no direct experience, I have less and less pertinent experience to share. As often happens in life, the new tends to push the old to the side, or at least it seems like it.

You've shared with us in the past about your vision issues, which I assume affect your computer use also. I hope that is not a predominant factor in your decision to back away, but I would not be surprised if it is some factor. If that is the case, I for one will give you leave to leave and not beg you to hang around. If it's not, then hang in here with us other old farts once in awhile and continue to share and debate!

Of course, if the new RV is a big factor in your decision to leave, then get out there and have fun and enjoy life to the fullest!!

And as Red Skelton always said, "God bless!"

I don't come to this site much anymore. Not sure what's happening in your personal life. I'm just sorry to hear you no longer own a spyder and are leaving Spyderlovers. I am glad that my wife (may she RIP) and I had the privilege to meet you at Spyderfest '13. You are one of the good guys, although I disagree with you on a lot of topics. Greta Van Fleet is really a very good rock band Bob. Nothing memorable you say, I beg to differ.

One thing that will never come to fruition is my desire to hit the white trails of winter with you and Roger. That could have been epic, us three old farts out there riding the trails.

If I take a road trip out your way I will look you up. Take care my friend.

I leave you with a little Greta. Keep in mind these guys just stepped out of their teens.

I like Greta. Sounds like something good to listen to when I'm off roading with the Jeep.

    Bob,

I actually know how you feel. I feel the same way on the two Yamaha Venture forums I help found. I haven't had a V4 Yamaha since 2011. What you can do is tell us some stories about your trips and racing adventures. I love reading things like that esp. during the winter when I don't ride very much. Thanks for your explanation and if you find any merit in this suggestion, well you'll have at least one reader. Good luck in whatever you move on to.

Sorry to hear that you are moving on and I hope that all is well. You have a been a constant here since my wife first was considering a Spyder and I landed here.

Is bob leaving? NOT! He will never leave until his posts reach 100,000. He already has 92,000. Bob is not a quitter.

The real story is Bob bought a Tiffin Wayfarer Motorhome and is active on that forum and is starting to get blisters on his tiny little fingers from all the posts he does. So he has to cut back somewhere but I grant you Bob is not gone. If he truly left there would be a big void in this forum and all the Ryker lovers would dominate our posts and we would all not come back. Besides where else would we see so much tasteful humor and a more resourceful individual that can find the funniest things that always make me laugh and cheer me up.

The post count has come up a couple of times, so I guess I should address that...
It was never about the post count: that just sort of happened...
I was just trying to "liven the place up".
When I first joined: this Forum was rife with discussion about DPS failures, hot right legs, and fuel vapors...

Nobody seemed to talk about themselves a bit.
I came out of an ATV forum that had about 10,000 of the closest friends you ever saw. Every Day was a bit like an Offiuce Christmnas Party: folks argued about modifications being made to their bikes, tire pressures... , tire brands... oil, helmets,
(Sound familiar???), and anything else to do with riding a Yamaha Grizzly.
But it was a self-correcting place. If a couple of folks got a bet too testy: others would jump in an remind everyone that we were all on the same team, and It was all supposed to be fun.
The Moderators were non-existent, and never seen... Okay: the jokes would stray a bit closer "to the edge"; but nobody ever posted anything that would actually be considered to be out of bounds... (Nudity, pornography, etc...) A couple of jokes landed that were pretty darn racist; they were quickly deleted...
(But there WAS that "Just Three Words" game, that went on for years... )
But we could argue about how our rides were modified, the type of riding we enjoyed the most, the best destinations for riding... it wasn't a bit different than what we have here...

So I got "Chatty" VERY chatty!

And back in 2010: this place felt like a morgue. It needed some fun, and I'd like to hope that I helped to get things rolling a little bit.

So the number of posts will just have to land where it lands: I never set a goad to reach a certain number...
