I don't know, I don't remember anyone wearing stuff like this. But I was in High School, so I wore tee shirts and jeans. If anyone showed up at my school wearing stuff like this I think he would have ended up upside down in a trash can.
Not in my neighborhood. Dressing like that would have probably resulted in getting yourself beat up...... (except maybe on Halloween)..... But I was out of school by the mid 60s and pretty much ignored fashons. And my wife will tell you that continues even today..... Jim

Though I spent most the seventies abroad I do remember the style though like you stuck to blue Jeans and Tee shirts as did all that hung out with us....Those that did got some unusual stares....

Yeah, back then, girls would wear a long inseam so the bell bottoms would get frayed from the heel stepping on it. They also had a huge comb sticking out of their back pocket so they could maintain their Farrah Fawcett feathered hair. Now girls keep a smart phone where the comb used to be.
When looking at old pictures, one can often tell what era the picture was taken by looking at how the women dressed because womens styles evolve much faster than men.
Women's cloths and shoes are also complicated. The styles and fit is all over the map. I complemented a women on her 'booties'. She corrected me saying they are chelsea boots. Hey, what do I know?
