I believe the Rotax engines for Spyders & Rykers are made in Austria, along with all their other engines for small aircraft & recreational vehicles are made.

Rotax is an Austrian manufacturer, and Bombardier has used their engines; since just about the very beginning...

I ask because in 2007 BRP opened a Rotax engines assembly plant for their off-road vehicles in Juarez Mexico and I read that they have a engine plant in I think Asia somewhere.

    From this page: https://www.brp.com/en/about-us/our-...acilities.html

    OUR MEXICAN FACILITIES

Our Mexican footprint has grown over the years. We now have two plants in Juárez where we manufacture our Can-Am off-road vehicles. In Querétaro, we assemble our Sea-Doo watercraft and the Rotax engines for our Can-Am off-road vehicles. .

    2001: Juárez 1
    2013: Querétaro
    2016: Juárez 2
This says "assemble" the engines so the engine parts could well be made in Austria. Looks like all other Rotax engines are made in Austria.

It's so hard to know where things are made these days. Some of the engines and actually full bikes are made in China for companies like BMW and Kawasaki. I know Rotax has been around for many years and are a great engine company however so has BMW and Kawasaki and only time will tell us if the out sourcing to places like China will effect their good names. I sure hope the Rotax 1330 is actually made in Austria.

Is fascinating how they can make the parts, export them for assembly and import them back cheaper than just doing it themselves....
Also like the new car sticker on the window with the %'s of the different countries supplying parts and labor...

When they had to replace my engine, they drop shipped it 2 day from Austria. (That had to be expensive) Unfortunately, they sent the manual motor and not the semi-automatic so I ended up riding the regional rep's bike for a month while they slow boated the semi.

Kind of like back in the early 80's when I lived in Illinois. I was talking one day with a guy who insulated furnace exhaust ducts in steel mills. He said steel companies could import billets of steel from Brazil cheaper than make steel from ore from Minnesota.

It sure would be nice if they did the same for motorcycles. People would be shocked if they knew how much of their motorcycles are made in China.
