Nitrogen in Spyder Tires?
Has anyone tried using NITROGEN in Spyder tires? I have had NITROGEN in all my vehicles and trailer tires for the last 4 years. it's real nice to not need to hassle with tire pressures on 5th wheel or my flat bed trailer. Just hookup and go. I'm planning on having air sucked out and NITROGEN put in Spyder tires if the damn weather ever warms up enough to ride it.

Big waste of money in my opinion. I have had a lot of RV trailers and motorhomes that came with it. The only advantage is the small 2-3 Lbs. pressure differential between air at temperature variations. Few places to get nitrogen unless you carry a
bottle with you. You should be getting the picture by now.

Sure, I use nitrogen in all my tires. About 78% of what's filling my tires is nitrogen.

I can't see the need to go the Nitrogen route. Doesn't take but a few seconds to top off a tire if and when needed.

Despite the naysayers that want to criticize every new, different, or unique idea that they don't agree with, it's just like any other farkle on a Spyder; if you like it and want it, then it's worth the cost. I know my local Tire Barn will fill my tires with nitrogen for minimal cost, and refill them for free. If you like it, I say go for it!

Actually nitrogen is great in winter months I dont have to keep fiddling with tire pressure and they run cooler in summer months when used. May try it again some day

Nitrogen is better, if available use it.

I use nitrogen in all my tires. Even tire pressure and my car dealer in Fargo does it for free. It does not leak out of alu inum wheels. Bigger molecules so you eliminate air seepage.

IMO, using nitrogen in your tires can lull one into thinking one's tires are OK pressure-wise so one gets slack about checking the tires for, among other things, stuff sticking in them. Even though I very seldom have to add air on a weekly basis, at least once a week they get a thorough check as I'm rolling the Spyder to get to the rear tire valve. Think that came from the basic MSF course.

Bigger molecules in Nitrogen???? I must search that out and it does not leak out of aluminum wheels??? Where did you get this information? Wandering minds want to know.

Race cars and airplanes have good reasons for using nitrogen........because it is DRY......and it is the water vapor, mostly, that causes pressure differences with temperature.
Regular air is 70+ percent nitrogen to start with......so all of that marketing hype is just BUNK.
If your tires regularly lose air, you need to get that FIXED and dry nitrogen is NOT the answer.
But there are worse ways to waste your time and money I guess.

There are some advantages to using pure nitrogen in your tires, as opposed to compressed air.
But, those advantages are not realized unless you're pushing the performance envelope, such as racing cars, or aviation tires.
For most people, normal 78% nitrogen air is just as good as 100% nitrogen.
The only disadvantage is cost, and only you can decide whether or not it's worth it to you.
Either way, you're way ahead of the game by checking tire pressure more often.
As always, my free advice comes with a double your money back guarantee.
If it ain't broke, don't break it.

Welcome to a forum with only supportive, productive responses to your honest questions and concerns!
There are some who historically are self-appointed experts in everything Spyder and more. Just ask them and they'll be glad to tell you. I am sure the only things they have done to, or have on their Spyders (or Rykers) are purely necessary, performance-enhancing, and most of all, never a waste of their money.
Again, there are proven benefits to nitrogen, whether significant or not is a matter of opinion, and you know what they say about opinions. You can find statistics to support any argument you want to make.
You do what you want to do and be happy. Only you can determine what is a good vs bad investment, and nitrogen is a minimal investment. Ignore the rest because, to them, you will always be stupid and wasting your money.

The subject of Nitrogen in tires has come up from time to time since I have been on site. Sad to say, not an expert here. My dealer would install only Kenda's, and Laser alignment is a "what's that?" Nitrogen in tires?..................that would be like going into the 21st Century for them.
No problem with kicking around the pros and cons. Going to read them all and hopefully learn something in the process.
My only suggestion is discuss it as much as you want...pro and con. No need to pick at others who do not agree with what you think. They have their perspective too. There is nothing wrong with a lively discussion. We have not had one of those for awhile now.
This can be a great subject. No need to bring out the knives and guns to hash it out.
