My Spyder played a part in receiving humbling recognition
Maybe this should be in the off topic forum, but my Goldwing and two Spyders have been a integral part of an eight year project.
You see my signature picture below, parked in front of a sign titled Bison Jump? Idaho has 269 signs of the same format as the one in the photo, some dealing with the geological history of the state but most dealing with the human history of the state. Seven years ago I embarked on what turned out to be an eight year project to photograph every one of those signs, and put them into calendars. After I was well into the project I began to realize just how bad the condition of nearly half of the signs really are. I put together a presentation about the marker sign conditions and presented it to the Board of Directors of the Idaho Transportation Department. I will present it again in a couple of weeks for the Board of Trustees of the Idaho State Historical Society.
An editor of the Idaho Statesman and producer at Idaho Public Television, Bill Manny, learned of my project while writing an article about his own experience of stopping to read the signs. He followed up with an article about my project which is on the Idaho Statesman web site now, and will be in the printed paper tomorrow. What he wrote about me is truly humbling and gratifying. He is lending great public force that boosts greatly my push for the state to fix up the signs around the state. If, and whenever, you get a chance to travel in Idaho take time to read the historical marker signs. You'll be glad you did. Idaho history is fascinating.
Here is the link to the story and to the earlier article Bill Manny wrote.

Great job. Congratulations

A great project! I have enjoyed my trips in Idaho and read many of the signs.
We have a few things in common. I too have a 2014 RTS (same color) but don't have as many farkles. I was born on a farm about 3 miles from Parma and lived there during WW2. I now live near La Grande OR but ride and camp with many people from the Boise area. Maybe we can get together some time. DickyRichard

this idea has sparked the lightbulb in me to visit all the historical markers in MO - Last year my wife and I with some friends started visiting state parks with the goal to visit them all in the state, really amazes me how much there is to see and do in state parks
I love how the earth rotates around the sun ... it really makes my day!

What a worthy and worthwhile project. Wife and I spent a lot of time touring around Idaho last summer on our annual MC trip. We saw several of the signs and liked the historical information they provide. Thanks Mac..... Jim
