    Default SE5 tranny heads up

If the O rings in the shift pistion (actuator) fail the dust boot can retain the leaked oil & dump it randomly, making it hard to know there is a problem. Lack of drip spots. & or then you may find 1big one & yes it is also using engine oil somehow this was just discovered on mine & will be down few days but at least it's found & early enough in the year not while out on some trip.

    Default Good to know

well not good.... but thanks for the information which will help those developing random leaks and shifting problems and engine oil drop. Well the 998 uses oil anyway so low oil will not be an indicator for those engines. What made them check the actuators...??

It was eating more oil than normal& I caught some big drips IMG_9229.jpg
This 1 was while at sonic <30 min just ordering food to go. The incline showed it was not just dripping but enough to pool & run. IMG_9262.jpg & this was at the dealer in the time frame to do paperwork <10min after 80+mile ryde there. As they were investigating they moved the boot & it dumped out what it was hiding. Hopefully not in techs face

FWIW, this is not applicable to the SE6 gearbox installed on the 1330 engine.

After trying to understand the original post, and then accomplishing some research in the various parts catalogs, itappears this only applies to the v twin Spyders with an SE5 transmisdion that is shifted by hydraulics.

Update: FYI 14 days later, I got toothless back today 2/1

Here's what was found& done the lining seals not just O rings on the piston shaft & transmission gasket leaking IMG_9297.jpg DSC06222.jpg
DSC06223.jpg correction (straight from ticket) :"Replaced housing gaskets, Lining seals & circ clip, had toe drain the oil & remove to open housing. Replaced oil & filters."
So I snagged an oil change too all for $25 deductible on extended warranty. Being early in the year & 50,127 miles I went ahead & got the plugs & airfilter changed too,
(first time I think) IMG_9306.jpg IMG_9307.jpgI'll DIY the brakes pads I'll get from BajaRon & be back to the focus of my trips. (3rd set of pads)

What was the actual cost on the bill if you did not have insurance? Looks like what i have going on right now.
