I followed Ron's instructions and left the gap the way they came even though I have the proper tool to change the gap. I noticed the old plugs were worn a fair amount but didn't measure. The bike seems a bit peppier but can't measure (possible placebo effect) and was noticeably smoother at idle than the old plugs. In an almost 200 mile leisurely trip yesterday with the CC set so the engine was running at a fairly constant 3K rpm I averaged 43.3 mpg.
