I can no longer turn my key to release the seat so that I can put fuel in it. Is there a way to open it?
You should be able to pull the right hand side of the seat away from the body to allow you to slide a long flat blade screwdriver between the seat and body to push the release lever. Once open you can attach a wire to the release arm and run it past the seat so that you can open it as needed.

Isn't it weird that in AMERICA our flag and our culture offend so many people...... but our benefits don't?
Clean with WD-40 and check adjustment nut on seat post that enters latch. Then lithium white grease on post and latch that post goes into. Do the same on Frunk latch. This will prevent a lot of head aches down the road.
When these are not lubed they begin to hang up and stretch the cables slightly.

Good advise above as to how to get it open and fix the problem. There are several backups you can search out and some simply removed the pin as they did not feel the need for a locking seat.

...……….However RE-MOVING the pin is IMHO not a good solution. Yes it's primary purpose is to secure the seat …. But I've seen what happens AFTER it's removed ….the seat can and will slide forward and the seat sides will rub the paint below the glove box. When you move the seat back there will be serious SCUFF marks. The bolt at the rear of the seat pan does not prevent it from sliding forward …..That PIN does that ….. just sayin …. Mike
My seat went down and latched yesterday on my RT and I can't open it either so this post is very timely. I urgently want to get it open as I need to reconnect my battery maintainer. I have some questions on what I have read.
KDR, what model of Spyder you got there with the stuck seat?
PW2013STL, what model of bike you got where you push with a screwdriver? Are you pushing from the back? The photos of the seat latch seem to indicate you need to pull forward to unlock the seat.

Got it fixed. Hardest part was finding a long screwdriver.
Our latch done the same thing. So when I did get it open I just took a zip tie and tied it open. The pin still works to keep the seat still. But now I just get off and raise the seat and pump gas and go.
