Thread Lockers
What is this new thing with the Thread Lockers, it seems like a lot of threads are being locked ???????
I'm trying to get up to speed since I have not been here in awhile ???????????
Where would I find out the new rules ??????
The locked threads I'm looking at didn't seem to break any rules ??????
Who are these people ???????

Anyone that starts a thread can lock it. When the thread is done, so we don't have 8 year old threads resurrected by someone with too much time on their hands.
I clicked on this thread as I thought you were asking about Loctite .....
PS, Sorry I meant Close a thread, not lock a thread. Two different outcomes.

People who can’t handle power, overusing their power. Lol
Sometimes people pull up old threads because they have questions and perhaps haven’t been here in a while.
Also, lots of times the search engines on forums don’t work very good when you have rare or very specific things you are looking for. Of course you can find a tire or brake thread on your bike, but look for something more specific or that most people haven’t dealt with and it requires further questions.

to me a thread should only be locked by a mod.
Like when it gets out of hand with personal attacks, etc.
Locking a thread because you don't like someone else's opinion is childish at best.
Opinions are different. Unless they state. or are based on, something non-factual they are not wrong, only different.

Lots of changes
I don't think there is a new playbook and as Bob said you will see them as you move about. We do have someone here now AnthonyG who is helping with the changes and can help you out if needed. Bob and akspyderman are now helping keep things neat and clean...

I believe she is referring to "closing" a thread & i never said registered users can close their own thread in forums.
The only place a registered user can close a thread is in the for sale forum, by using the SOLD tool.
Permissions for registered users to delete a thread/post was removed.

Play nice, follow the rules, and no one will be offended. Otherwise, the dreaded "threadlocker" can and WILL happen.
Since things were looser before, they are now being tightened up a bit. Unfortunately, everyone now knows who they can blame it on--even though they may be the cause of the problem.
Some of the "players" are scouting again. How long will this last.

To my knowledge--threads have NEVER been locked because a moderator disagreed with someones opinion. They have been locked when personal attacks happened, when dirty laundry that should have been dealt with in a PM privately was posted in a thread, or the thread was in violation of forum rules.
I have always told others that "I respectfully disagree..." and let it stand at that. I have no problems with others' opinions that are different than mine. If they then go into attack mode on that or another person...then it is a different story.
I do hope this clears up yours and others' questions about why's and wherefores' of thread locking.

Now that we've cleared the air: can we lock this one down?

I hope you boys will not lock threads down because someone says so (like above)...…………………. I hope you boys follow the guidelines.
We are rooting for you to make the right decisions...…..

as I said "to me a thread should only be locked by a mod."
not sure I inferred that mods do/did what you suggest
I have no "questions",
the questions came from others.
