    Default Headlight flashing

My wife follows me with her 2018 RT when we ride. Is it common for the headlights to act like they are flashing high beam when she hits a bump?

I put my lights on high so the shutter does not bounce

Lights on high beam most of the time seems to be the solution. All thanks to the shutter system.

    Default Here's the thing....

On the models that have the single filament bulb and the shutter system this will occur. Seems the shutter does not lock and rather hangs over the bulb so when on a bumpy road it will bounce. On high beam it does tend to stay in place. Many cars flash at you on those back woods two lane roads ...wonder if they are angry or happy to return the flash...

Normal (projector style lamps) to do this. Look at all the toyota cars with them and they hit a bump and you'd swear they flashed you but that's not the case (rav4 led projector). The beam pattern has such a sharp cutoff that's what causes this (flash symptom).

Look how sharp this is - full to black in just 1/2 inch!

Can-Am sure has engineered the Spyder to be worked on by the dealer. You'd think that being a Spyder shop would be a great moneymaker.

And with that hard cut line for the lights vertical edge, under braking, sometimes, especially on roads with no street lights, the forward range that illuminates decreases a lot. Even with lights aimed higher than the Can Am spec.

Thanks guys! I was wondering if she had a bad switch. Now I can rest easy knowing it is normal.

Like was said, it's totally normal and most people solve it by running on high beam during the day, which is what I do. I do seem to recall years ago a member replaced the springs inside the headlights with ones that are slightly stronger to solve the issue.
