I do not think spectacularspyderman was berating anyone. Rather expressing a lack of knowledge of those he mentioned.
The comment was spot on.
There are way to many who do not remember or do not even know what happened on this date 77 years ago.
As an example, our local paper today (a reading area of 125,000+) made absolutely no mention of "Pearl harbor Day".
not one word
And the event that took place at Pearl Harbor completely changed the world.
We would likely not even be here if it had not happened.

Thank You Bob for posting this reminder. Let us never forget. My father's ship (The Curtis AV4) was parked just aft of the Arizona and was also damaged in the attack. My mother was living on Punch Bowl at the time and told us stories of the planes coming in from the North and passing right below her house. She could see into the cockpits and see the pilots. A terrible day for those involved.Thank you all for your service then and always. And thanks Dad for surviving to the end and raising us.

Did your Mom realize the importance of what she was witnessing at that time? That was an amazing image to keep in her mind all those years.

Said a little prayer for those souls lost that day. Dad enlisted just as soon as he could, saw combat in the Pacific theatre. He often spoke of VJ Day. 40 years ago today I became a Paratrooper, making my 5th qualification jump at Ft. Benning. 1992, assumed Command of a Company of Green Berets. Lots of significance December 7 has! To those serving, and those who served, Thank you!

My Dad and his brother signed up as soon as they could. Dad in the Navy as Corpsman Uncle Walt in the Army. Dad was assigned to a Marine Battalian, it must have been really bad, because he never talked about it the fighting only the poker games, and how well the Marines took care of him. He enlisted for the duration of the war. He passed a couple of years at the age of 94. He was very a proud Sailor and proud of me and one of my sons for enlisting and serving 20 years in the Air Force.

Yes she did. And she could not go to any war or violent movie. She always said she had seen that stuff in real life and she didn't need to see it on the screen. When Dad was on the Curtis off of Okinawa they were hit by a Kamikaze that caused considerable damage. He would never talk about that either.

A SALUTE AND PRAYER TO THOSE KILLED ON TNAT FATEULL MORNING.
BUT WE DID FORGET. We have been attacked many times. Either through ignorance, lack of preparedness, or just plane stupidity---- 3,000 more died.
I imagine a future generation will FORGET Setember 11,2001
