I learned to drive motorcycles on my fathers 1974 Moto Guzzi, that was a great ride and got a lot of LOOKS oh ya shaft also. I was close to getting a new one for my old age a few years ago

I hope not. Shaft drive isn't necessary, it robs power (that's the reason race bikes don't use shaft drive) and it's much heavier and complex than the belt system being used. And why not keep the belt? There's almost no maintenance and they rarely need replacing.
