Hi,

I asked a former co-worker( retired) to give me a "Letter of Recommendation's" to the companies that I have applied for. They asked me for some key Contributions to highlight during the time I had worked at my former job. They'll mail the Letter of Recommendation's to the company's that I give them addresses for.

Today( 1/10/2019) my interview went very well, the person who interviewed me had read my resume and knew I was smart, and if he gave me a task/or job, he know it would get done. So I am just waiting to back from the employer about the $$.

All the interviews that I have had have gone very well, the next step is waiting for the $$ offer.

I'll post more info. when I can.

In the mean time I am still applying for jobs.

It is tough starting over in the work force again.

You might consider getting those letters for your own records. That way if needed, they can be part of the info you supply if requested by a possible employer.

I have printed the " letter's of recommendations" from the person the former co-worker( retired Marine Core), for my own records.

At my previous
job I was making a high paying hourly rate, now I have to start all over again, at zero.

I have a lot of technical skills / and work experience ( 19 years) under my belt.

I am frustrated, and some of my coworkers are getting jobs,and I am not getting a job.

HI All,

Here is the latest update with my job hunting, I have applied for 3 more jobs. One of the jobs I applied for, I filled out an assessment. The assessment is part of the hiring process. Waiting to hear back from the employer. This employer is in the Northern part of Vermont.

The other 2 jobs that I applied for I'm waiting to back from them.

I've run into this myself when hiring. Some times people are over qualified for the position you are looking to fill.
Be patient everything comes to those who wait

That over qualified for the position they tell you is BS. IMO- a person is willing to do the job and spent the time for the interview make them a offer.

I went for a few job interviews and was told the same thing. Didn't really need the jobs just wanted something closer to home.

A position will come soon just hang in there and keep trying.

On Tuesday, I'm dropping off an other Job application/ with my cover letter & resume.

I got an phone interview today, it went well.


This is what I am running in to is: getting the work experience to learn something different so I can start a new work career( at a different company) example: learning how to read blue prints. I know how to put/assemble things together( example putting a desk together that have pieces labeled A, B, C, etc.). And how to use a flat/Philips screw drivers. I know how to use a torx drivers, and Metric sockets, and American sockets, and etc. Also throw in power tools.


So I am mechanically inclined I just got to convince the employers that I apply for jobs at. Also I'm running up against the other people that are out there looking for work. It is tough starting over in the work force again! It is frustrating for me.

At the risk of being labeled as 'negative', I'd like to suggest that perhaps manufacturers these days are looking for people with a higher level of skill - perhaps with computer-controlled assembly machines (robots). I think you may need to look outside of manufacturing and be willing to accept a lower compensation package than what you have been accustomed to. OR, take the initiative to get more education for yourself. Many states and counties have worker retraining programs because of the massive shift taking place away from low-skilled high-paying jobs. You're not the only one to get caught up in this phenomenon, which has been taking place in one way or another for several decades now.

You might also want to take a second look at your original decision to stay in Vermont; it's a very small job market.
