    Default belt tension

The dealer said they adjusted the belt to 1000 newtons . Does this sound right as per manual .When i check with the krik kit i get 280 lbs.

    1000 newtons = 224.8 Lbs

Your Kricket is pretty close to what the dealer said.

Yikes that is a lot of tension. Current SB tension is around 144 +- 20 or so. That is 144 lbf.

That tension spec is jacked and rear wheel off the ground. On the ground the tension increases.

    Default Check spec's

Does seem high but don't know the spec's for your year and model. The best is to run it on the lower side, on our RS we are between 160-200 on the kricket. The higher tension does put a strain on the wheel and engine bearings...

My bike is a 2018 RTL . The belt gets hot on a ride ,and smells of rubber .The belt is against the inside flange of the rear sprocket and against the outside flange of the front sprocket . BRP said this is fine ,why then do the have a spec for the clearance 1mm to 3mm ( i think).

Rear wheel is not aligned correctly in my opinion. Wheel may be pointed left, forcing belt left on the front and making it run hard against the rear pulley flange.

BRP sent all dealers a TST (Technical Service Tip) in June of 2015 revising the belt tension to 630N +/- 100.

    It is titled TST61Y014S05_en.

I have no idea why some dealers continue to use the old specs and why BRP continues to publish the old spec.

Also, your belt should not ride on any flange if correctly aligned and under no circumstances should it ride on both the front and rear sprocket flanges at the same time. This is in your manual. Your dealer is blowing smoke up your rear to compensate for their lack of education or ability

Thank you very much .That will help when i go in nex week for belt replacement . The dealer has been talking with BRP . When talking with BRP all logic and common sense is thrown out the window .
