    Cool New Spyder Lover :riding:

    A2E61223-4482-49DC-A152-5C490E4AEACF.jpg

I finally made it! Had some trouble getting my account into full access mode, but Lamonster fixed me up

So on my last trip on my Wing a few weeks ago (3600 miles, 7 states, 5 national parks, 2 new tires, and 1 BMW rally ) I realized that the riding part was more stressful than fun. We were on great roads, nothing too technical other than Beartooth Pass and parts of RMNP, but I took those slow and really enjoyed them. The problem was every time I encountered uneven ground or gravel - whether it was a totally gravel road or gravel on top of the pavement. I was in constant fear of dropping my big, beautiful bike. Several times I had to get off and have hubby get me out a tough-for-me situation. Well, that started getting to my pride, but the worse part was being sore and stiff from my neck to my fingers from tensing up so much.

While at the BMW rally, we shared a cabin with a great couple from Idaho and the wife came in on a Spyder/trailer rig. She told me of how much more relaxed she was on the Spyder than on two wheels and what a fun ride it was. Even encouraging her hubby to go a little faster . DH and I talked it out over several camp fires along the way home and decided it was time for me to start looking at a Spyder of my own. I hit up CycleTrader whenever I had cell service and found a beautiful Oxford Blue Chrome edition RTLE in Tucson at a price that couldn’t be beat by the NM/El Paso dealers.

So here I am on three wheels ! I put 99.9 miles on her on Saturday and will be riding to work all this week to show her off

Looking forward to learning from ya’ll all about these great machines!

Laura once you get 500 to 1000 miles on your RT you will wonder why you didn’t make the change sooner. We enjoy all the same thrills as the two wheelers except the Spyder doesn’t lean in the curves. But I enjoy steering into the curves and I don’t have to worry about gravel or slick pavement!👍

Welcome! I recently traded my Goldwing for a 2018 RT Ltd., much for the same reason, being somewhat "vertically challenged", I too, had problems on uneven ground. The whole 2 hour ride to make the trade, I was wandering what was I thinking getting rid of such a nice ride, all forgotten when I pulled out of the dealership on my Spyder and stopped at the first stop light with my feet on the boards and brake, and a smile on my face. No regrets!

    Default Welcome, welcome 👍

Nice trip with an interesting ending. From your writing it did seem that you could no longer relax on your ryde and it was great you ran into folks like them. Congrats on the new ryde.. and welcome to both the spyder world and this awesome site. .

Congrats, Laura! My wife and I updated to a 2018 RT Ltd just like yours a week ago. We're loving it, and have put about 250 miles on ours so far. You'll find lots of friendly, knowledgable folks here who will be glad to answer any questions you may have about your new RTL.

I know exactly what you mean. After I got my 2013 RT and sold my 2005 Wing and rode a few thousand miles I realized I felt safer on the Spyder at 80 mph than I ever did on the 'wing at 70! For me, switching to the Spyder reinstilled the joy of riding! I'm sure it will for you, too!
