Garmin 590 1 has anyone used??
Has anyone used the trip planner feature on the nuvi 590? What did you think about it??

I do the trip planning on my pc using Garmn Basecamp then transfer it to my 590. There is a bit of a learning curve, but it works quite well. There are youtube videos to help.

I have a Zumo 590 that is the most difficult to use piece of electronic equipment I have ever owned. Basecamp does not seem to make it any easier. I wish they could make it talk to MS Streets & Trips or just use that software. S&T is ten times easier and faster.

Using BaseCamp
Try this very good tutorial. BaseCamp is not easy to learn to use but if you stick with it you can create good routes that will meet your individual needs.

Streets & Trips was discontinued in the US in 2014.

I use the Garmin 590 and lead rydes all the time.
I use myroute to create my routes and then export to the Garmin. Myroute even has an app for the phone.
Much easier than basecamp in my opinion. In fact, its so easy a 5th grader can do it.

yeah, I know. My version is 2010 and is still a much better software package than the newest Garmin crap. I can plot routes with 50 way points in just a few minutes but converting to the proper format then loading it into the Garmin doesn't work as the Garmin does not like lots of way points and doesn't play well with other software. It's sad that their technology of today isn't as good as Streets and Trips was 8 years ago.

What you said! Patience is my shortest suit, but I refuse to let BC get the better of me. Whenever something in the program really bugs me I call Garmin tech support and find them courteous and helpful.

I also have a 590.
And it's basic GPS functions are no better or worse than any other GPS unit.......and I've had a LOT of them.
But every one of them has been a little bit different and you need some degree of flexibility.
Or maybe you should just buy a horse.
