    Default Handle bars get hot

I have a 2017 RT, had a 2011 before. It seems like the 17 handle bars and key get awful hot. They’re black, and the 11 had grey handle bars. At forest I thought I had the grip heater on by mistake. Has anyone else noticed this ? It’s been hot out, but I’ve rode the 11 in hot weather, and never noticed it. Like I said, the key even seems very hot. Thanks

    Default Handle Bars get Hot

On the 2017 Be careful because, where u would normally put on the parking brake are the grip heaters. Doing the 3 Wheel class I turned them on thinking I was applying the parking brake. The parking brake on 2017 is located on the left handle bar. I have a 2013 ST with the parking brake switch just in front (close to the rider) and below the handle bars. Check to make sure u have not turned them on.

I did that myself a time or two and turned on the grip heaters during summer. Those things get hot

Are we talking about the grips; or the bars?

I have a 2017 RT-S and the parking brake switch is the left most switch in the bank of switches and even if you hit the wrong switch when you turn the ignition off it beeps at you. The black bars do seem to get hotter that the the silver ones did on my 2012 RT-S but I assumed that was normal because of the color, and I still think so.

    It is normal...
But the silver bars also had the tendency to reflect a lot of light onto the Information screen: making it difficult to read...

Ya, I was referring to the bars itself.

    That's "Norbal"...
Solution: either wear gloves, or don't touch the hot parts!

Here is what I'm thinking of doing, Take an old T-shirt and sew the cuffs of the sleeves together cut the shirt down the front (hem it or not) then hook the sleeves on the hand grips and bring the body of the shirt forward over the dash area and find a way to hold it down.
