Default Questions on 2019 Deadwood SD rally.

Interested in heading to next years Deadwood 3 wheeler rally.
Can anyone who has gone, suggest a hotel they enjoyed.
I am pulling the spyder on a trailer, so I need a place that has some parking space.
Looking at about $100 a nite if possible.
    Any knowledgeable comments welcome.

We went this year and stayed at the host hotel and paid $101/night. I think there are cheaper alternatives. To us there was no advantage to staying at the host hotel, other than it's across the street from everything.....but I don't personally think it was worth the rate. The only good thing was the ability to park in the parking ramp, and that didn't work for everyone either. The rate there for next year's early registrants was already announced to be $99/night. We weren't sure about going back so we didn't register. Unless they make some changes with the event, we probably won't be going back. We trailered out too, and it worked out well. They have a nice big area up on the hill for the trailers..

You seem to imply you had a bad time. Can I ask why you didn't care for the rally?

We stayed at the Host Hotel and it was OK but not a necessity as not much happens there except gambling . we rode there and pulled our pop up trailer but decided to hotel it at the Rally . If I was to go again I would look for a cheaper hotel but $99 was not bad. We will wait a few years to go again as its just to dang hot in mid July to ride for two weeks.

Good luck trying to get by cheaper, welcome to tourist season in the Black Hills... It could be worse, motel rooms are now going for ~ $300 a night since the Sturgis Rally officially starts on Friday. Once that happens all bets are off for those 10 days...

While its not cheaper than the host hotel, its only a few bucks more but a much nicer place and includes underground parking. We stayed next door at the Marriott Spring Hill Suites. They also have a great free hot breakfast and NO smoking or casino in the lobby. We are staying there again in a few weeks just after Sturgis as part of a larger trip. Its also right across the street from the fairgrounds where all the events take place. Do not suggest any of the hotels downtown. Parking is a bear.

We're ate up at Oggie's Sports Bar & Emporium up on the hill NE of Deadwood: far better eating at more reasonable costs. Parking, as stated, is a bugger in town although one can walk it or grab the shuttle (on their roughly 1/2 hour schedule). The riding and views are great: go as a smaller group as you can't hardly get lost. You'll ride 385 a number of times as much of the scenery and activities are south of Deadwood. Theater there a couple of paved roads that run to older mining towns of Rochford and Deerfield: we rode them to the end of the blacktop and turned around to ride back - the scenery and ride was 'new'.

It was my 1st time this year and I enjoyed it very much. I stayed in an AirB&B in Leeds.I was about 6 min from the Fairgrounds. I don't feel like I missed anything. This was my 4th trip to the Black Hills and there is still so much I haven't seen. Great riding, great area great sights. I was surprsed at how early the town emptied out. You could shoot off a canon about 9:30 down main st. and not hit anyone.

I stayed in Spearfish. Rates were cheaper and it took about 15-20 minutes to get back and forth. I don't feel like i missed a lot. The rides and scenery are tremendous especially for someone that grew up in the desert. We spent the whole week on the road. They did have events planned but didn't do many of them. One we did do and I wouldn't miss it again was "Ride with a local". He showed us roads we would have missed.

Was wondering about the ride with a local, what exactly that entailed. Sounds like you have a local person as a rider with you, did they supply their own helmet? I know a number of the roads there, what were they able to show you?

You weren't the only one confused by that title... Yes, I do have my own helmet... There were a few of us. Maybe next year the title should be something like "follow a local". or something of that sort. Have to run that by Teresa, after the Sturgis Rally.

I too did the "Ride with a local". Basically you had a group of local riders who designed rides that went to places you would have wanted to go but by different routes then usually taken or to places you would not have heard about. I rode a set of roads I would not have put together and really enjoyed it. There were about 15 of us in the group led by a very experienced local rider and I thought it was a great idea.

we attended this year's rally - matter of fact have attended all of the 3-wheel rallies in Deadwood. believe this was the 4th annual. Teresa with the First Gold Casino & hotel is great to work with. rates were under $100 and the rally activities & vendors were across the street. very convenient.
this was our 5th straight summer to the Black Hills. the riding along with all of the attractions are fantastic. I believe we had 14 or 15 from our NISR (Nebraska Iowa Spyder Ryders) there this year. I believe Terese told me there was 440+ Spyders there - liked dominated the Harleys and Hondas???????
    would recommend attending.
