Dog Lovers - Read "The Art of Racing in the Rain"
If you are a dog lover and have not read "The Art of Racing in the Rain" .... you need to. It is a well written book that is told from the dog's point of view. If you are a racing fan you might get the title. Ayrton Senna was the master of the art of racing in the rain. Great book and you will smile and cry when reading it.
There is a moving currently being made that should be out next year. If it is half as good as the book it will be worth watching.

Wife and I just finished reading it and agree 100% with your assessment. A very well written book both funny and sad,
