the same principles apply, many have applied his fix on earlier models to correct the hot foot issue.
You can purchase a $27 BRP Part #705004803 Right Side vent intended for 2014 Spyders that is a minor adjustment to fit '13's and earlier.
Which gives you a right side looking like this
I just ordered this for my wife's '12 RT, strange they are just wide open.

I do wear insulated leather work boots when I ride and they do not make my feet hot and it does help to nullify the feeling of heat from the radiator on my right foot. Plus I do reposition my feet on the floor boards every so often. We also have high humidity with the temps in the 90's.

air scoops
I added the functional air scoops to my 2012 and it helped the temp of the air being vented out. You still have some heat when stopped but its not as bad as not having them. I got the kit from my local dealer, easy $70 fix and helps overall heat of the spyder.

Agree
Perhaps newer owners don't know about the brp air scoop kit/fix as per the Recall for the 2013 RT - also fits 2012 and makes a huge difference to airflow
Note I don't have an rt- just passing on info

Simple fix
I had the same issue. Went to Advance Auto and bought some exhaust header wrap and wrapped the pipe under the bike. Easy and quick to install and it solved my hot right foot issue. Nice cheap fix that really works!!!

The one I put on instructed the user to remove the plastic pan below the outlet to allow for heat to dissipate . Mine does fine here in Baltimore where it's hit high 90's, low 100's this summer.
