Default Suggestions for an extended warranty after Best Warranty expires after year 5

Just doing some due diligence here. As a first time Spyder owner, my '15 RTL entered its Best Extended Warranty this past April. I have not seen any discussion of what is available after the Best Warranty expires, if anything. Since the 1330 motor came on the scene in 2014, the platform has proven over the last 4 years to be bulletproof. I'm frankly surprised that BRP hasn't increased the total warranty period(Factory + BEST) to 7-8 years like Honda, and maybe H-D.
I've heard "I wouldn't own a Spyder that isn't covered by warranty". Do people really switch rides every 5 years???? If that is true, what a cash cow BRP has. I just find it hard to believe that is what really happens given what these trikes cost and BRP's self inflicted depreciation that occurs with left over models when the new models hit the showrooms.
Being retired and all that goes with that stage in life, large expenditures of money take some planning. Just starting to get my ducks in a row; but need advice from the much more seasoned Spyder owners.
Thanks in advance for any/all advice that you send my way.

As far as BRP is concerned, when B.E.S.T. extended warranty expires you're on your own. I don't know if you could find some third party continued extended warranty that wouldn't have a horse choking cost to say nothing of such inconveniences as you paying the repair bill and submitting claim for warranty reimbursement. Since I'm retired too, once my B.E.S.T. extended ends next fall I might consider creating a mini-escrow pot for big repairs. I won't even consider replacement until current Spyder rolls at least 100K.
Artillery lends dignity to what would
    otherwise be a vulgar brawl.

There have been a few folks on here that have purchased extended warranties from Zurich after the end of BEST. But the repair claims process and results are not what you got from BRP.......

Personally, if my bike is still mostly trouble free by that time, I will forgo the extension. If BRP were to decide to market longer BEST plans, many would buy them but I bet you are right about the reduction in new bike sales as a result. Likely BRP already knows this......

Default Warranty repairs - newer bikes seem to be pretty reliable

Yes we have been happy with the warranty repairs on our 2011, and 2015 RTs. The 2011 had several warrantied repairs dealing with throttle bodies and recurrent codes. My 2015 base RT has also had a new wiring harness after a mysterious loss of communication but smooth for 15,000 miles since. The other 15 RTS and the 16 F3T were and have been fault free for over 70,000 miles, so I'm with JayBros- just put a little back and enjoy the original 2-3 year warranty Just our experience.
07 Shadows, Aero, Spirit gone but not forgotten
03 Harley Sportster, 07 RK moved on
    11 RT- 76,000 mi, 15 RT-S- 44,000 mi, traded for current 15 base RT and 16 F3T

Mike, I'm not sure what you mean by the bike having entered its B.E.S.T. this past April. Are you saying the original 2-year warranty expired? Are you saying you have a B.E.S.T. warranty? If so, when does that expire?

BRP will sell B.E.S.T. extensions up to a total of 3 years beyond the original warranty of 2 years. So, before we can answer your question intelligently we need to know what you have and when it expires.

    My interpretation anyway.
That's how it reads, but I didn't want to assume that's what he means. If he has the full 5 year coverage, then he doesn't have anything to worry about until 2020, right? But, he says the B.E.S.T. expires in a year, so I think maybe he has only 3 years total coverage, not 5.

    Mike,

I'm also looking for suggestions on an Extended warranty after my B.E.ST warranty expires. ( my B.E.S.T Warranty expires next year) I have a 2014RTS-SE6, and I am also still in the work force ( full time).

Zurich Warranty??? Does any can-am dealership offer Zurich warranty?

If I go to a can am dealership that does not sell the Zurich Warranty what happens then?

In Vermont there is only 3 can-am dealerships ( 2 of which do not honor the Zurich Warranty ) & 1 only does honor the Zurich Warranty. I have to go to either New Hampshire or New York, Mass, to the can-am dealerships that honor the Zurich Warranty.

I have some anecdotal perspective on BRP's B.E.S.T. extended warranty and others.

I have two 2014RTs. The first one I bought new at the nearby dealer in 2015 and at the time, BRP was giving a year of B.E.S.T. as an incentive. That extended warranty expires this October, so I have to decide by then whether to buy another 2 years of B.E.S.T. or go with a 3rd party.

The second one I bought used from a guy in Alabama. He had just purchased a 3 year extended warranty (Rider's Advantage, sold by Pitbull), so wanted to recoup the $900 he paid for it when he sold it to me. I took a chance on it and gave him his asking price. It cost me $35 to transfer the warranty into my name.

This month, I am taking both bikes to the dealer for relatively minor warranty work. I was a little hesitant about the second bike because of the 3rd party coverage. But, the dealer was actually pleased I had that bike covered with Riders Advantage and suggested when my first bike's warranty comes up for renewal in October that I buy Rider's Advantage rather than the B.E.S.T. (even though they make more money selling the BRP product). The service department, it turns out, would much rather deal with Rider's Advantage than with BRP's B.E.S.T.

So, that's a for what it's worth. I haven't investigated whether it's possible to go beyond five years with a 3rd party company, so I'll leave that to you all.

My personal bias (not expert opinion) is that if the bike has gone 5 years with no major problems, I'll be comfortable self-insuring. If it has been nothing but a warranty nightmare (neither has been), I'll consider trading it in for a new one.

My two cars and 2-wheeler are all over 10 years and going strong. I'll only consider getting rid of my current Spyders if one of them turns out to be a lemon and costs an unreasonable amount of money to repair every year. I'm not expecting that to be the case.

while not extensive or definitive,my experience with Zurich was different then yours. In my two uses of them the paid on time with no delay to the dealer with the only cost to me was the $50.00 deductible. I was very happy with them and the retail cost of the repairs more then covered the cost of Zurich.

    UP,
Sorry if I wasn't clear on my warranty status. In '15 my RTL came with a 3 yr. factory warranty(4/15-4/18). Without hesitation in 2015, I bought a BEST Extended Warranty which gave me 2 additional years(4/18-4/20). Now that it's almost 7/18, I am in my BEST Warranty period. I was hoping to "find" an extended warranty beyond 4/20. I am hoping someone(s) from this community have been in my situation and could share the information.

Default BRP Warranty after BEST Epires

I heard BRP offers a unique warranty opportunity after your BEST warranty expires...it’s called an upgrade to a new unit
