    Default Intertate ?

    Everyone
I currently have a transponder from the Illinois tollway. I am just wondering how everyone pays fro tolls on the interstates that have tolls? I plan on staying off of interstates as much as possible. I am relocating to the southeast and most of those states honor the system. Should I keep this transponder or turn it in ? Thanks guys

    That's a pretty confusing post.

IF.....the area you are moving TO has toll roads AND that system honors the one you already HAVE......why would you NOT keep it and continue to use it ??

OTOH, if there aren't any toll roads where you will live, I see no good reason to keep it.
After you have been in the area for a while you can see what your travel routes will be and decide whether or not you need one then.

I have transponders on both my cars because of convenience and cost savings.......but the Spyder should NEVER see a toll road.

    Default Turn in the transponder?

Here in New Hampshire, I own my transponders. I have one in my truck, my car and my Spyder. My account is only charged for each use, regardless of which transponder is used.

Turn it in and see what your new state has to offer

Run as fast as you can from Illinois.

Tolls and taxes are getting higher every year..

Doubt if the unit will be accepted by other state (that would just be too ez) you will probably need new one for where you will be, & may be able to simply avoid the toll if you like. If you have family you may have return visits would have to be fairly frequent to be worth keeping old unit & or transfer over to their name my toll experience is quite limited & I try to keep it that way. Good luck.

To that I say, only when necessary or convenient. I prefer the US, state and back roads that pass through the countryside.

I ride the Illinois tollways 5-6 days a week. As long as you have it, it will save you half the cost if you didn't have the transponder.

Pay cash and its full price on the toll.

But if move to an area that doesn't have tolls get rid of it..

    Default The Illinois

I pass transponder does NOT work in the south east states that I have been in. There was a period of time that both Illinois and Florida were going to make each compatible with the other. THIS HAS NOT HAPPENED!!!!
Turn in your Illinois one and get a new one for the area you plan to live and travel. That is what I ended up having to do!!!!!!!!!

The Kansas turnpike pass is only honored in Kansas and Oklahoma.

Does iPass work in other states?

The tollway already belongs to the E-ZPass Group, a coalition of 25 toll organizations across 15 states. The Illinois tollway coordinates with E-ZPass so that I-PASSes work in other member states such as Ohio, Indiana, New York, New Jersey, Maine and Virginia. ATI counts about 40 different agencies as members.
