hi the gold plugs the engine drain plug the long one comes with a thick washer when I drain the oil do I put the new washer that is thin one over the large one or throw out the old thick aluminum washer>

Throw away the old and install the new.

Not trying to start the sniping back up, but when there is reports of items failing, the responsible makers of those items will redesign the parts to correct the problem. I don't know if any of the aftermarket plugs have been redesigned or not. I do have experience with some spacers on an aftermarket motorcycle rear end. The original spacers were made of aluminum. They were too soft and over time they fused to the axle and had to be machined off. The makers of that rear end made it good, fixed the parts for free, and the later spacers were made of stainless steel. There were no further problems with the spaces. The rear end was not for a Spyder and the only reason I even mentioned it here was to point out that what aftermarket accessories you might buy now, may not be the same metal or the same dimensions as the same items which may have failed some time in the past. Responsible aftermarket parts suppliers will fix the problems. It could even have been a 3rd party plug maker that was used for a short while that caused the problems. Nobody has all the information. I have not heard of any plugs breaking off in a long time.
