    Default Trailer Coupler Locks

For those who use trailers to pull their Spyders, or bumper-pull trailer owners in general. I am looking for a good quality coupler latch lock (the one that goes through the coupler latch hole) to secure my trailer to my truck when leaving it overnight in a parking lot or in a campground. I have looked at several options on Amazon and other sellers and most of what I find appears to be easily defeated, low quality, cumbersome to use, or otherwise not very secure. Have any of you found a really good quality lock to use on your coupler latch? Or, is there a better way to secure your trailer using another method such as a wheel lock? Thanks in advance for your suggestions!

I use a trailer lock made by Master. You can get them at any store that sells trailer supplies.......Walmart, Autozone, Etc. The shank closes tightly against coupler making it very difficult to defeat the lock with bolt cutters. You can go to all kinds of elaborate security measures and all can be defeated by determined crooks. Just park in well visited and visible places and make sure your insurance is paid up.....

I watched the video with interest. I have trailered various vehicles for over 50 years and thought this may be useful. But, they lost credability with me when they slopply installed a hitch lock leaving more than enough room for a bolt cutter. If that lock had been properly installed the outcome would have been different. But, of course, that would not have been what they wanted..... I'll stick with my good ol' Master lock.

I was looking at one of our trailers last night and even with the lock I could have it towable within a few minutes with nothing more than 2 wrenches and a new hitch... lock will keep honest people honest, but determined crooks will find a way... as mentioned.. a good padlock and insurance.

    Default Krok lock

That is what the Krok lock prevents is unbolting the hitch from the trailer, It has 2 extra bolts under lock cover that can't be undone without being unlocked,

    Default After losing a trailer....

I had a 14 foot aluminum enclosed trailer taken from my drive way in broad daylight. This was locked with a Master "Commercial" lock. My new trailer is secured with a Proven trailer lock which completly covers the hitch but also locks the chains. I also use a Brahma Wheel lock. Double the hassle for would be thieves...
When we're on the road I just use the wheel lock when the trailer is attached to the truck. Note, neither lock is cheap, but much cheaper than a replacement trailer let alone a Spyder on it

    Ryde safe, Rich.
