gerbing heating gear
Where to install gerbing heating plug do you have to go to the battery or is there a closer point to hook it up on a 2017 f3s

The best place is direct from the battery. You may need an extension wire to get all the way to the right spot. Mine is on the left tube below the body work.

A better place would be is off the big red lead on the alternator as it connects directly to the battery. Disconnect the battery negative lead first. Add a fused wire connection at the alternator terminal lug. As for ground find a good chassis ground point. If you are putting in a receptacle you can also plug in a battery tender for keeping the battery topped off.

Battery...
to the battery with an inline fuse is best. route depends on model and battery location and where you want to plug in. I have leads I pull out from under the seat.

Gerbings recommends the Battery. This is for a good reason. I have had several and burned up the first by not hooking up to the battery
direct. Needs full and not partial power to operate correctly.

Customer circuit under passenger seat. Plenty of current to run the 35 - 40 watts of heated vest or jacket. Already fused at 5 amps (60 watts total power). Been running there since 2015 without issues.

If your running or add Pants and gloves to the jacket this will not work. You use a 15 amp fuse with a dual controller. Do not let anyone talk you out of direct battery hookup. See my previous post. I tried to hook up to something other than the battery and burned up a Jacket while I was riding. Not Fun!

Can I Use Battery tender
I have a 2016 F3T. I am contemplating getting heated vest & gloves, and was wondering if they sell an adapter that I can plug into the battery tender pigtail that is in the frunk to power the gear?

Yes they do, you may have to change to a higher amp fuse. Check with the manufacturer of your gear.

Here is a picture of mine: Newest Spyder farkles 001.jpg.
It is a" First Gear Heat-troller, with dual controls". The power cord( with the red end) is ran thru the back in the trunk, see picture :Newest Spyder farkles 004.jpg the other end is near the passenger hand grip, that connects to my jacket. When not in use I tuck it out of site.
The cord that has the red on it, the other end has a adapter on it so I can plug it into the 12v when I use my heated jacket. If I don't use my heated jacket I don't plug it in.
I secured the "First Gear Heat-troller on my dashboard with Velcro. Also I attaché the strap to my ignition key so it does not fall off.

My F3T came with a SAE pigtail off the battery. I increased the fuse to 15 ohms because the wire is hefty enough. I then put an inlet/outlet in the bag spacer where the passenger heated grips control was supposed to go. Pulled the bag and used a 1/4" coaxial connection between the bag and body so that I can unplug it should I ever need to remove the bag again. Drilled one hole in the bodyand hid all the wiring under the seat coming from the battery directly using the BuRP supplied fused SAE plug in the frunk. I merely changed to a 10 amp fuse in the factory pigtail. This is Warm n Safe's outlet module. >DETAILS CLICK ME<
