Default Winter Weather has not !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Winter weather has not left the North East Yet!

It is the middle of April, and it feels like the beginning of December. The snow plows are out. The roads are snow covered with salt, etc.

The spyder is still in hibernation! The rest of this week the weather forecast is calling for rain/snow showers, temps in the 40's.

People who live in the western/southern part of the United States send some of your warm weather to the North East!
    I have spyder fever.

    Deanna

Same thing here in NW Iowa. 12 inches of snow, with more on the way. It is depressing to listen to the weather forecasts of 4-8 inches on Wed.

Sorry to hear you folks are still getting hit with the winter that will not quit.

These come along from time to time. The older people remember some of those winters. I sure do. Thirty six inches of snow, 10 below, 50 mph winds, and had to walk uphill both ways to school.

I will stay out of the global warming argument. All I will say, is you should come to Alaska, see the melting glaciers (the place where the former president stood was all ice and glacier 15 years ago). The NW Passage is "really" open to travel. Etc.

I am going to do another "mailbox" run this PM. We have 50 and blue skies again.

Saw my son from Alaska past weekend. He said it was 65 degrees when he left Palmer on Thurs. Had just raked his lawn. We had 80 degrees in Kentucky. Came home yesterday to 20 inches in my driveway. Going to be 19 degrees tonight. Predicting 5-7 inches for Wed.

Some parts of the world have generally gotten warmer. Other regions have gotten colder. If you cherry pick the data you can come up with pretty much whatever you want.

Here is what Al Gore said in December of 2007 at his Nobel Prize acceptance speech.

"Last September 21, (2007) as the Northern Hemisphere tilted away from the sun, scientists reported with unprecedented distress that the North Polar ice cap is “falling off a cliff.” One study estimated that it could be completely gone during summer in less than 22 years (2029). Another new study, to be presented by U.S. Navy researchers later this week, warns it could happen in as little as 7 years (2014)."

Though sketchy and incomplete, Arctic Ice records go as far back as 1850. The accurate satellite data we now employ has been available for only the last 38 years.

It is well known that the planet has been (in the past) much warmer than it is now for long periods of time with little or no possible man made input.

We are heading there in May for a two week land\cruise tour. Will spend a few days in Anchorage to start it off. Really looking forward to it, been on my bucket list for a while.
