Changing the canister prefilter is one of those PITA jobs that take longer to remove and replace the Tupperware than to change the filter.

I posted up a how to a while ago, but the long and short of it is, you don't have to replace it. You can separate the two halves and clean it and reinstall it.

Old thread, I know, but I would like to ask a question of anyone who has taken this filter apart and cleaned it.
For someone who drives on roads and not often very dusty, how much dust can really accumulate in this filter?
And since the air goes through the charcoal filter of the EVAP system before it could get to the gas tank, how relevant is this filter at all?
I don't recall seeing such a redundant filter on any other vehicle I have owned, car or motorcycle.

I think it's a waste of time to mess with the evap canister unless you need it to pass inspection. Much better to eliminate it altogether. About the same amount of effort. Much less expensive. And permanent.

Smile Pre-canister filter easier to clean than access

MS -- I took my pre-canister filter apart (two Philips screws), washed the filter in detergent and water, patted it dry with paper towels, and reassembled.

Will it eliminate the smell of raw fuel after replacing or cleaning evap pre filter

Thumbs down TLI (Too Little Information)

Do you even own a 1330cc model?

Personally I think it's the fuel pressure hose from the tank to the fuel filter (the hoses are a bit cheap) and it's about to leak gasoline onto your right leg. Probably won't ignite though.

Eliminating the Evap canister will rid you of the smell. Forever! Also eliminates potential PVC valve issues.
