Iron Butt
I 'm heading out on 3000+ mile ride in April. Going from san Diego Ca. to Tulsa Ok.( visit brother) then to San Antonio TX. (visit friend) then back to San Diego.
I have no time line for the trip, following the original RT. 66 as much as possible, I will stop when I want and where I want.
I'm looking for suggestions on trip suggestion, equipment , sights to see and anything else.

Route 66
If you have AAA they have a good map of Route 66. Also they offer a Trip Book for a price.

WATER
WATER, carry water ALWAYS....
crossing AZ & NM, ride on the HALF TANK RULE... when you are down to half a tank of fuel, and you see a gas station, STOP & FILL UP.... if you don't already have a WET-VEST, get one... CYCLE-GEAR has them, as well as other companies... it's a 'given' that you'll over-heat, and the wet-vest is an absolute necessity even in April... consider SUN BLOCK for any exposed skin....
ride carefully, enjoy and keep us posted...
