You might have to take the parking brake loose and back it out so the piston can go back in. Take a C clamp to put the piston back in. Or sometimes take some screw drivers and wedge between the brake shoes to push it back in. Are you replacing the brake shoes? If so use the old shoes to wedge with screwdrivers so you will not mess up the new shoes.

The piston will not simply push back into position. It requires a tool to make it easy or you can try to use a pair of needle nose pliers in the notches to twist it back into position while pushing in on it at the same time. A tool like this makes it a snap as it can do both the twisting and pushing at the same time:

You will need to remove the caliper from the bike to gain the access needed to use the tool.

This only applies to 2013 and newer. His 2009 can be pushed back with a C Clamp.

Isn't it weird that in AMERICA our flag and our culture offend so many people......

I guess I could have looked up what the caliper actually looked like but the way I read about having to remove the parking brake cable had me thinking it was an incorporated unit...
