    Default Pacific Coast Highway ride

Went on a great ride yesterday with my friend Hypurone. We rode over to the coast to Bodega Bay and then went north on PCH to Stewart’s Point. The ride up to Stewart’s Point was amazing. The waves crashing on the rocks on the shoreline was a truely beautiful sight. We rested up a bit at Stewart’s Point at a place that has been there since the 1800’s. We the took the Tsunami Evacuation Route from Stewart’s Point to head for home. Road work crews were ahead of us doing a pretty crappy job of repairing pot holes in the road. There was a lot of asphalt flying as we tried to negotiate the road. While on this crappy part of the road we encountered a RT on our way out. Once we left the crappy road section the road improved greatly and it was a beautiful ride with the Northern California coast on one end and a ride through the redwoods along a creek on the way home. Really had a great day with my riding buddy Hypurone. He has some great rides in his portfolio. Only drawback was having to clean the sloppy asphalt all over the Spyder after running this road but the beauty of the scenery made it all worthwhile. All in all it was a fun ride with a good friend. Always fun to run with a friend. If you live in California you need to make this ride, it is amazing.

I think I need to put that on the bucket list. We enjoy the PCH in a car, I can imagine it being so much better on the Spyder...

Default Be carefull further up the coast line............

The dam elk lay right next to the pavement. Drive slow. Sometimes the Calif. Highway Patrol will escort traffic through the area.

I've got more awesome rides in my arsenal that we haven't done yet but are gonna have to wait until I heal up more and hopefully breathe better after my surgery. I can hardly wait tho!

It means the world to me that you come this far with traffic to ride with me!

Back in the late 60's I used to ride the PCH from the GG bridge up to Jenner then follow the Russian River back to 101 and home. It was a great ride. Lots to stop and see. Little quaint cafes to eat. Not much traffic and the smell of the eucalyptus forests down south were breathtaking. Last time I was on that ride was in mid-90's so not sure how it is today.

Is the PCH opened all the way Morrow Bay to Monterey? Last time I was riding it there was a wild fire along side the road (we got through) and last year there was a big slide that closed part of it down so we had to go around. Hope it is now open.....

101 thru Santa Rosa is a nightmare these days. Actually Santa Rosa into the Bay Area can be bad. I don’t even like it in a car.

Sounds like you might be in the Eureka area. Have had elk walk right up beside us to get leaves from a tree we stopped by to watch them. Beautiful area.

That slide was around Big Sur, I am pretty sure it is still closed in the area.

Hey partner, the company and the rides are great, the traffic to and from is a PITA but like I said, the company and the rides my friend.

And YES, the asphalt DID suck, took me all day to clean it out. It was everywhere man.
    Still had a blast.

It can be brutal with traffic unless you go during the week or early on the weekends. But it still resides in my "go to" arsenal in the top 5!
