Why are there still 2016's for sale new?
I just looked at the website for one dealer and saw they have seven brand new 2016's for sale. My dealer has three and one demo, though they are down from seven when I bought mine in October and the first dealer is asking $2000 more per vehicle. This gets me nervous. Have Spyders simply quit selling?
Thoughts?

That's been the case for years. BRP, as well as other vehicle manufacturers, tend to build more than the market will absorb in any given year. If I remember it right, Ford tried for a few years to build only as many cars and trucks as would sell. They learned it wasn't a good marketing approach overall. If people can't select from a variety of available stock they tend to go elsewhere. Bargain shoppers will always come along and buy the leftovers. If it weren't for leftovers they wouldn't buy new at all, only used.

The Sky isn't falling! Manufacturers always seem to have leftovers at the end of each model year.

I got my 2016 RT-s this last November with 321 miles on it. It was a new bike with a used sticker price. If BRP made to many that year, Im GLAD THEY DID.

I agree with what was stated earlier. If it wasn't for leftovers, I probably would not buy new. I purchased my new 2016 in April of 2017. It saved me about $5500.

Exactly right! Saved lots on mine when I bought at end of MY.

Yea Bob but he said new leftover "2016's". They are already 3 years old. I wonder how many leftover Rykers there will be this year? They along with Spyder's are not selling well.

My local Harley dealer has a few 4 yr old "new" bikes, still on the floor, heavily discounted.
It seems like all motorcycle manufacturers are a little too optimistic these days
No I just have to wait a year or 2 for a leftover Ryker!

I only buy when the bargains come along. Only one exception my 2014 Indian Chieftain. They were new and i wanted one. But did get 1000 off for military discount.

You feel bad for motorcycle dealers and un sold stock, imagine snowmobile dealers when there is no or very little snow for several years...they have mountains of sleds in boxes in the back....luckily this is a snow year...well lucky for them...not for us 2 and 3 wheelers awaiting spring

29k down to 20k for an ''old'' new Daytona here...………………... still smiling!

Sometimes dealers will buy stock from a dealer that closed. That stock very well may be "aged" inventory because of the mess surrounding when a store / dealership closes up.
Ounce in awhile the Mfg. Can-am may have aged inventory even in warehouse still, which will sell to a dealer at a discounted price. My local Honda dealer has been getting some 2013 Honda NC700X bikes from Honda direct. Wow those are 6 years aged already, extremely great deal for the end consumer / buyer!
So like all other people posting to this it's ALL Mfg. these days, nothing to worry about.
